Technical Analyst
Microsoft Purview Technical Analyst – Job Description
Who You Will Be Working With
You will join the Data Trust Capability within Capgemini’s Insights and Data (I&D) business unit. I&D is a global division covering:
- Enterprise Data Management
- Cloud Platforms
- Enterprise Content Management
- AI & Analytics
One of the UK’s largest and most successful Data Governance teams, your role will involve:
- Leading innovative Data Management and Governance solutions for global clients.
- Partnering with vendors like SAP, Informatica, IBM, and Oracle.
- Delivering client-focused consulting rooted in industry best practices.
The Focus of Your Role
As a Microsoft Purview Technical Analyst, you will:
- Design, implement, and optimize Microsoft Purview solutions across:
- Data governance
- Information protection
- Data Loss Prevention (DLP)
- eDiscovery
- Compliance capabilities
- Ensure operational excellence, technical execution, and policy enforcement across Microsoft 365 environments.
Key Responsibilities
Your day-to-day work will include:
Configuration & Maintenance
- Configure and troubleshoot Microsoft Purview features:
- Information Protection (sensitivity labels, auto-labelling)
- Data Loss Prevention (DLP) (M365, Endpoint, Cloud Apps)
- Data Governance (catalogue, scanning, classification)
- Records Management (retention labels/policies)
- Insider Risk Management
- eDiscovery (Standard & Premium)
- Manage scanning rules, metadata sources, and catalogue assets for compliance.
Integration & Support
- Support Microsoft 365, Azure, Power Platform, and on-prem data sources.
- Monitor Purview alerts, DLP incidents, and governance logs.
Incident & Reporting
- Conduct investigations into policy violations and data protection events.
- Track & escalate issues across engineering/architecture teams.
- Maintain audit trails, compliance dashboards, and monthly reporting.

Training & Continuous Improvement
- **Document operational runbooks and compliance processes.
- Create user guides for end-users, compliance officers, and IT teams.
- Train Purview users via sessions/knowledge transfer.
- Identify gaps in governance compliance and recommend improvements.
Collaboration & Community Contribution
- Work closely with Compliance, Security, Data Governance, and IT teams.
- Participate in exploratory roles, like blogging/articulating Purview trends.
About the Role
You will be part of a fast-moving team addressing real-world challenges using cutting-edge technology. Success here means pushing boundaries, working client-facing, and being innovative with data-driven problem-solving.
What You Will Bring
Experience
- 7+ years in data governance, security, compliance, or Microsoft 365 administration.
- Hands-on experience with:
- Microsoft Purview (information protection, DLP, data governance, records management, eDiscovery).
- Microsoft 365 security & compliance (Defender for Cloud Apps, security policies, and governance tools).
- Azure stacks (SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange/Teams, Synapse, Data Factory, Power BI).
- Basic familiarity with Azure Active Directory / Entra ID, regulatory compliance basics, ITSM.
Skills & Competencies
- Technical ability to configure Purview policies, scanning tools.
- Strong analytical & troubleshooting skills (e.g., KQL, PowerShell).
- Excellent documentation and collaborative communication.
- Peer-driven mindset with problem-solving ambition.
Certifications (Desirable)
- Microsoft SC-400 (Information Protection Administrator)
- Microsoft MS-500 (M365 Security Administrator)
- Azure/AI fundamentals (AZ-900, SC-900, ITIL Certification)

Security Clearance
- UK Security Check (SC) clearance required.
- Given continuous UK residency (5 years), nationality/eligibility will be assessed via application.
