Technical & Applications Support Specialist – Drive Portfolio (UK)

This position reports to the Technical Support Team Leader.


About the Role

In this role, you’ll provide technical and application support to partners, customers, and the sales organisation, contributing to exceptional customer satisfaction. You’ll form part of the Technical & Applications Support team within the Technical function for the UK drives business. Your responsibilities include aligning the drives portfolio and technology with customer applications while supporting sales to meet varied project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll help run what runs the world by delivering meaningful work and tangible impact:

  • Provide comprehensive technical support to partners, customers, and colleagues on ABB drives portfolio
  • Deliver urgent responses to customer enquiries and consistently meet support deadlines
  • Identify and propose technically appropriate and value-added solutions for drive system applications
  • Stay updated on new product features, customer requirements, and market trends by collaborating with experts
  • Partner with drives factories, OEM hubs, and support functions to achieve cohesive outcomes
  • Advance product promotions through demonstrations, presentations, and technical training
  • Support internal or on-site project delivery, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Ensure compliance with ABB Integrity and ethics programs, including training completion

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Strong customer focus and problem-solving drive
  • Motion control and servo experience is advantageous
  • Prior experience in technical and application support, preferably in OEM environments and customer-facing projects
  • Clear ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with internal teams, factories, and service hubs
  • A qualification in electrical engineering or a related discipline is preferred
  • Expertise in variable speed drive systems (superior advantage)
  • A deep passion for technology, innovation, sustainability, and energy efficiency
  • Holder of a full UK driving licence
