Programme Director, MRS-GM – Munich Re Specialty – Global Markets

The Role
The Programme Director is responsible for translating business strategy into compliant and sustainable delivery.
This position oversees end-to-end programme leadership, including planning, execution, communication, and delivery. You will collaborate closely with the Programme Sponsor, MRSG Executive Committee, and other key stakeholders to ensure goals, functional requirements, and benefits are attained within defined scope, time, cost, and regulatory boundaries.
Responsibilities
Role Accountabilities & Programme Ownership
- Own end-to-end responsibility for successful programme delivery, ensuring all outcomes, milestones, benefits, and deliverables are met.
- Maintain oversight of the integrated Programme Plan, aligning it with target operating model, business case, regulatory requirements, and implementation activities.
- Ensure Day 1 compliance for the programme while managing out-of-scope or deferred functional requirements via a clearly structured roadmap for future phases.
Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership Collaboration
- Partner intimately with the Programme Sponsor to provide insightful analysis, challenge assumptions as necessary, and drive informed decision-making throughout the programme lifecycle.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the MRSG Executive Committee (ExCo), delivering clear, timely, and transparent updates on progress, risks, dependencies, and required decisions.
- Work closely with functional Leadership Teams to harmonise strategic objectives with market-specific needs.
- Lead engagement with senior stakeholders across MRSG, Global Markets, Great Lakes, and Group functions, fostering collaboration and shared ownership of outcomes.

Collaboration & Cross-Functional Alignment
- Drive cross-functional collaboration across Operations, Underwriting, Claims, Finance, IT, Legal, HR, and Compliance to address requirements holistically.
- Ensure functional, regulatory, and operational requirements are properly documented, approved, and traceable within the programme.
- Actively manage interdependencies with the wider Change Portfolio, coordinating with peer Programme and Project Managers to harmonise plans, sequencing, and resource allocation.
Programme Delivery & Governance
- Direct programme prioritisation, shaping, planning, execution, and control, continuously managing plans, budgets, risks, issues, and dependencies in line with portfolio governance.
- Collaborate closely with the Head of Change and Head of IT for resource planning, budget management, and delivery trade-offs.
- Ensure third-party vendors, consultants, and partners adhere to agreements, Statements of Work, and quality expectations.
Team Leadership & Capability Building
- Create and sustain a positive, collaborative team environment, emphasising consistency, shared standards, mutual support, and adherence to the MRSG change framework.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and leadership to Project Managers, nurturing capability, confidence, and delivery maturity.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continual improvement within the programme team.
Change, Growth & Transformation
- Translate strategy into practical and achievable outcomes, ensuring the success of people, process, technology, and data capabilities.
- Support and coordinate discussions with local regulators and internal risk and compliance teams to secure approvals and safeguard compliance.

Knowledge and Skills
Experience and Qualifications
- Augmented experience across Global Change and Transformation
- Familiarity with the Insurance Markets of Europe, the UK, and Lloyd’s
- Proven Director-level experience, overseeing large-scale change programmes with multi-location budgets
- Bilingual: Proficiency in English (mandatory) and one of the following languages: Spanish, Italian, or German
- University degree, relevant professional qualification, or comparable industry experience required
