Biscuit International UK is the leading specialist supplier of own-label gluten-free biscuits and cookies in the United Kingdom. Based in Gateshead, our facility operates three lines, producing over 4,300 tonnes annually in plain, chocolate, and sandwich formats. As part of Biscuit International, Europe's foremost private label biscuit manufacturer, we deliver quality and innovation built on over 400 years of expertise.
We’re seeking a Technical Assistant to join our Quality function in Gateshead. Reporting to the Technical Manager, this role is pivotal in supporting the administration and maintenance of our technical and quality systems, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and high standards of production.

Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and monitor laboratory systems, maintaining clear records
- Collect and dispatch samples for external testing; maintain laboratory results database
- Sample, test, record, and release or reject raw materials; liaise with suppliers regarding quality issues
- Resolve day-to-day quality matters related to raw materials and packaging, including supplier liaison
- Advise the Technical Manager on stock rotation issues
- Collate traceability data and highlight discrepancies
- Maintain, validate, and calibrate laboratory equipment
- Test raw materials approaching or beyond shelf life and report potential concerns
- Maintain internal specifications and recipe systems
- Support the Technical Manager in implementing and validating the Food Safety & Quality system in line with BRC standards
- Address non-conformities within technical systems

Skills & Experience:
- 5 GCSEs Grade C or above
- Internal auditing qualification or willingness to work towards
- HACCP qualification or working towards
- Analytical, motivated, and capable of independent analysis
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; SharePoint experience desirable
