Technical Assistant
Technical Assistant – Premier Foods | Worksop, Nottinghamshire
Location: Worksop, Nottinghamshire Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday (Closing Date: 13th July 2026)
Are you passionate about food safety, quality, and continuous improvement? We’re looking for a proactive Technical Assistant to support our Technical team in maintaining the highest standards of compliance, product quality, and operational excellence across our manufacturing site.
About The Role
We are recruiting a motivated, detail-oriented Technical Assistant to join our Technical Department. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for food safety, quality, and compliance to develop within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate will provide essential technical support, helping to uphold BRC certification, assist in audits, and ensure the highest standards of food safety, quality, legality, and authenticity are met on-site.
Key Responsibilities
- Support compliance with Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) procedures across the site.
- Promote a positive food safety and quality culture through engagement and continuous improvement.
- Maintain technical records, registers, logs, and documentation (including GMP, EFK, CCP audits).
- Prepare, analyse, and distribute technical data to internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure technical documentation and materials are readily available for production teams.
- Coordinate and distribute customer complaint samples to relevant stakeholders.
- Carry out and support site audits, including:
- Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) audits
- EU Food Law (EFK) audits
- Critical Control Point (CCP) audits
- Organise and conduct sampling and testing schedules, including:
- Microbiological testing
- Allergen screening
- Vegan verification
- Raw material and TUL (Time-Temperature) sampling
- Calibrate technical equipment in line with scheduled maintenance.
- Support internal and external audits, including follow-up on corrective action.
- Assist with traceability exercises and investigations.
- Distribute audit non-conformances to responsible teams and monitor compliance.
- Provide administrative support to the Technical Lead, covering activities during absence.

About You
We’re seeking a self-motivated, excellent organiser with a keen eye for detail, capable of working both independently and collaboratively. You’ll thrive alongside a team dedicated to ensuring the highest standards in food manufacturing.

Essential Requirements
- Familiarity with quality management and food safety principles in manufacturing.
- Basic understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Exceptional administrative and organisational abilities.
- Rigorous attention to detail.
- Self-driven with the ability to manage and prioritise workload efficiently.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Food Hygiene Level 2 certification.
- HACCP Level 2 training.
- Completing internal audit training.
- Pest control awareness training.
- Sound knowledge of quality/technical IT systems (e.g., QMS software).
- Prior experience in a food manufacturing or quality assurance role.
