Role Overview

The Technical Assurance Manager is responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of products and processes by implementing and maintaining robust food safety and quality management systems, to meet both technical excellence and business objectives.

To provide leadership, and drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality and standards, ensuring quality and standards to our customers and consumers competitively.

Reports to the Site Technical Manager.

Working Hours

  • 40 hours per week.
  • Monday – Friday, hours to be agreed with Management. An element of flexibility is required for this role to support the needs of the business and coverage of the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure food safety, legality, quality, and integrity for all customers through the development, implementation, and adherence to technical policies and procedures.
  • Play an active role in achieving site accreditations by ensuring compliance and audit readiness for BRCGS and customer audits.
  • Develop and implement robust traceability systems to ensure transparency, regulatory compliance, and full product traceability.
  • Lead and manage pest control strategies within the food factory, protecting product integrity and maintaining a hygienic production environment in line with food safety standards.
  • Oversee product testing and environmental monitoring to ensure the production environment does not contribute to contamination.
  • Investigate customer complaints, conduct root cause analysis, and implement effective preventive actions to enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Deliver training to site personnel on food safety, hygiene, and quality standards, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
  • Consistently and proactively monitor and manage site trends and risks.
  • Work closely with internal teams to boost food safety, compliance, provide technical guidance, and ensure cross-functional alignment.
  • Manage the site QA and Hygiene teams to ensure daily standards, checks, and monitoring are completed correctly.
  • Oversee the site non-conformance system, ensuring issues are logged, investigated, and closed with effective corrective actions.
  • Verify and challenge site processes to confirm they are being followed correctly and meet food safety, quality, and compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate and maintain the internal auditing process to meet BRCGS and customer requirements, ensuring audits are planned, completed, documented, and followed up.

Health & Safety Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with LT Foods UK’s health & safety, food safety, and quality assurance standards.
  • Report any hazards, incidents, or near misses promptly to the Production Manager or Shift Supervisor.
  • Support the implementation of safety protocols and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Participate in health and safety briefings and training sessions as required.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of food safety, legality, compliance, and quality standards within the food manufacturing industry.
  • Proactive mindset with a “can-do” attitude and a strong work ethic.
  • Excellent communication skills with a focus on collaborative problem-solving and delivering practical solutions.
  • Previous experience in a technical or quality role within a food manufacturing environment.
  • HACCP Level 3 or higher.
  • Food Safety and Hygiene certifications level 3 or higher.
  • Strong understanding of food safety systems (e.g., HACCP, VACCP, TACCP).
  • Leadership and team development capabilities.
  • Working knowledge of SAP system is advantageous.
