Introduction

Join a specialist technology business delivering secure digital solutions that support Defence and National Security. This is an opportunity to produce high-quality technical documentation that helps mission-critical systems perform reliably in some of the most demanding environments.

Role Overview

Location: Farnborough (Hybrid)

What You'll Be Doing

  • Produce, edit and maintain technical documentation to recognised Defence and international standards.
  • Create clear user guides, operating procedures, training materials and system documentation for a range of technical audiences.
  • Interpret complex technical specifications and translate them into accurate, user-friendly documentation.
  • Ensure consistency, quality and compliance across all documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Work closely with engineers, subject matter experts and project teams to capture and communicate technical information.
  • Manage document version control and support configuration management activities.
  • Review and update existing documentation to ensure it remains accurate and aligned with current standards.
  • Contribute to design reviews by providing documentation expertise throughout system development.
  • Ensure documentation meets security, classification and compliance requirements.

Main Skills Needed

  • Previous experience as a Technical Author or Technical Writer within Defence, secure communications or a similar technical environment.
  • Strong understanding of Defence or military communication systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical standards, specifications and complex engineering information.
  • Excellent written communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Experience using document management platforms such as SharePoint and Confluence.
  • Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple documentation projects and competing priorities.
  • Knowledge of Allied Communications Publications (ACP), NATO STANAGs and interoperability standards is highly desirable.
  • Experience within MOD, NATO or other Defence environments would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with structured authoring tools such as XML or DITA, Agile delivery and secure information handling is beneficial.
