Technical Author – 6-Month Rolling Contract (West Midlands)
About the Role
Rubicon Consulting is recruiting for a Technical Author on a 6-month rolling contract based in the West Midlands.
Role Summary
- Understand client and company documentation standards for project technical writing.
- Edit and rewrite sources of information into a consistent style and language for use in project documentation.
- Review Operation & Maintenance manuals for accuracy and completeness.
- Compile and distribute extensive asset data as required by projects.
- Liaise with external stakeholders and manage communication across all projects.
- Prepare and publish technical documentation for project teams.
- Audit and review the work of other technical writers where necessary.
- Receive, register, and file technical documentation and drawings efficiently.
- Manage time and workload to meet agreed project targets.
- Comply with company procedures, including:
- Quality assurance
- Health and safety
- Environmental management systems
- Contribute to the development of documentation procedures and systems within the Engineering and Project Delivery department as needed.
- Effectively communicate with project teams on technical matters.
- Adhere to all Health and Safety responsibilities outlined in company policy.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned.

Requirements
To apply, candidates must meet the following criteria:

- A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent), including Maths and English.
- Advanced IT skills, particularly Microsoft Word proficiency.
- Demonstrable experience as a Technical Writer/Author, aligned with this role.
- Ability to simplify complex technical systems or processes into clear, accessible language.
- Relevant experience in:
- The water industry
- Engineering construction
- Project delivery
