Technical Business Development Manager

Technical Sales Business Development Manager Salary £35,000.00 - £45,000.00 (dependent on experience) + £20,000 OTE Location: Hybrid / Colchester Office We have two excellent opportunities in our Technical Sales Team for a ambitious Technical Sales Specialist who is looking to build on their experience to date, working as part of a talented, evolving Sales Team, reporting directly to the Head of Technical Services. The Role This is a fantastic opportunity for a technically capable sales professional with expertise in test and measurement, control and automation, or robotics to play a key role in driving commercial growth. Working closely with customers, suppliers and internal teams, you will combine technical knowledge with strong commercial acumen to: Translate complex engineering requirements into practical, value-led solutions Identify and develop new business opportunities across key technical markets Deliver hands-on demonstrations, application support and technical advice Build strong, long-term relationships across industrial and educational sectors You will act as a trusted technical partner to customers, supporting them throughout the full sales cycle—from initial engagement and discovery through to implementation and follow-up. What You’ll Be Doing Driving business growth across test & measurement, control & automation and robotics solution areas Managing the full sales lifecycle, including technical discovery, solution design, proposal and negotiation Acting as a technical specialist, providing guidance on product selection, configuration and integration Delivering engaging product demonstrations, proof-of-concept solutions and training sessions Supporting marketing and events through exhibitions, webinars and technical content Building strong relationships with suppliers, integrators, and key customer accounts Using data, insights and CRM tools to manage pipeline and identify growth opportunities

What We’re Looking For We are particularly interested in candidates who can bring technical expertise in one or more of the following areas: Test and Measurement systems Control and Automation technologies Robotics and related applications Alongside: Experience in technical sales, business development or application engineering Strong ability to interpret technical specifications and customer requirements Hands-on, solution-focused mindset with the ability to simplify complex concepts Excellent communication and relationship-building skills A proactive, self-motivated approach with a passion for solving customer challenges Why Rapid?
