About the Role: Technical Buyer Administrator

What to Expect Day to Day

The Technical Buyer Administrator supports the Engineering Department’s Technical Buying Team, a core part of Camlin’s ecosystem. The team facilitates procurement for all Engineering Department projects, including those within:

  • Mechanical Engineering Team
  • Sustaining Team
  • Software Team
  • Algorithms Team
  • Applied Engineering Team
  • Compliance Team
  • Research Team

Key Duties and Team Responsibilities

  • Sourcing and purchasing components and services required for R&D and new product introduction (NPI) projects.
  • Timeliness is critical—fast decision-making, proactivity, and adaptability are essential.
  • Supply chain management duties:
    • Managing Bill of Material (BOM) creation and MRP system updates.
    • Engineering Change Order processing.
    • Electronic component sourcing and supplier negotiations for continuity, pricing, and lead time optimisation.
  • Ownership of indirect spend management, assisted by a Procurement Platform launched Q3 2023.
  • Cross-Group support, including obsolescence management and product lifecycle management using specialised SaaS platforms.

Responsibilities

Technical Order and Logistics Management

  • Oversee ordered components/services and their delivery:
    • Goods Inwards retrieval from Operations Stores
    • Precoro System updates for receipt of goods/services
    • Distribution to engineers or teams as required
  • Manage inventory/excess stock, ensuring kits/components are documented and available when needed.
  • Monitor and track purchase order records, attend briefings with Ops Planning/Dispatch and expeditiously communicate order progress or delays.

Administrative Tasks

  • Precision procurement and reconciliation:
    • Review, reconcile, and process technical buyers’ Purchase Receipts and Invoices in Precoro.
    • Highlight invoice queries to the team for resolution.
  • Support the Precoro approval system.
  • Provide PLM administration assistance post-training.
  • Coordinate Supplier Audits and track compliance.

Essential Criteria

  • Fully skilled in Microsoft Office suite: Excel, Word, and Outlook, plus other web-based procurement programs.
  • Excellent negotiation and commercial acumen—focusing on optimal outcomes for Camlin.
  • Strong prioritisation, time management, and ability to work inductively & collaboratively.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English (critical for internal and supplier communications).
