Your role in a nutshell
We are looking for a Technical Compliance Advisor to lead compliance; according to internal and external standards; of all new and existing raw materials and resolving technical queries related to raw materials and formulations. This is a hybrid role, working 2 days on site in our Brighton office and 3 days from home.

Key Job Accountabilities
- Timely collation and review of raw material data required to meet internal and external requirements and ensure documentation is kept valid
- Ensuring that raw material information is captured accurately to a high standard on internal system to allow information to be easily and confidently accessed by other members of the team and wider business colleagues
- Timely communication of compliance issues and working with the wider team to find resolutions
- Conduct gap analysis against changing compliance requirements and lead compliance projects related to meeting new standards
- Maintain a high standard of knowledge of worldwide regulatory requirements plus standards that The Body Shop has committed to/working towards (e.g., Cruelty Free International Leaping Bunny standards and Vegan)
- Respond to ad-hoc technical queries related to raw materials and formulations
- Creation and maintenance of internal standards, procedures and work instructions related to the Technical Compliance Department

What we look for
Experience:
- Experience of cosmetic/raw material regulatory compliance
- Knowledge of REACH and CLP
- Knowledge of Vegan & Cruelty Free International requirements
- Understanding of the product development cycle
- Experience of using and proficient in manipulation of data in MS Excel

Qualifications:
- A scientific degree or higher in a relevant discipline (chemistry, biochemistry, toxicology etc) or equivalent understanding of the regulation/scientific issues
Competencies required:
- Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy
- Ability to identifying and challenging data on raw material when required
- Quality Management - looks for ways to improve and promote quality; demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness
- Proven record of identifying & critically evaluating multiple sources of evidence to inform evidence-based proposals.
- Proven record of managing multiple priorities to time
- Successful record of engagement & collaboration with experts & non experts.
- Adopting a flexible approach to support other work as priorities and needs change.
- Able to build effective personal and professional networks and capabilities and collaborate with others excellent communication and project management skills
