Technical Consultant

Location: Remote

Employment Type: Full-Time (Part-Time also considered)

Salary: Competitive

Our client is seeking a talented and driven Technical Consultant to contribute to their continued growth and success. Working closely alongside the technical and sales teams, you will play a vital, client-facing role in delivering exceptional technical solutions. You will guide clients through their technical requirements – from pre-sales network design and consultancy to post-sales builds and configuration. The provision of these value-added, consultative services is what makes our client stand out in the industry.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional with a deep understanding of wireless and networking, exceptional communication skills, and a genuine passion for delivering high-level technical customer support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Consultative Support: Provide comprehensive pre-sales and post-sales technical support to clients.
  • Ticket Management: Respond promptly and professionally to technical inquiries in line with agreed SLAs.
  • Site Surveys and Design: Conduct wireless network design, surveying, and consultancy (requires the ability to travel to various UK-based customer sites).
  • Documentation: Accurately document completed work for both internal records and client handovers.
  • Systems Maintenance: Assist the existing technical team with maintaining and optimising internal systems.
  • Thought Leadership: Create engaging technical content for social media and represent the company at industry conferences.
  • Relationship Building: Engage in active vendor and client networking.

Core Services Delivered:

  • End-to-end network design.
  • Wireless design, site surveying, and advanced diagnostics.
  • Pre-configuration of network equipment before client dispatch.
  • Remote break-fix support and troubleshooting for customer network configurations.

Skills And Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

  • Strong foundational understanding of networking principles.
  • Proven expertise in Enterprise wireless networks and wireless design / implementation.
  • Experience with dynamic routing protocols (OSPF and BGP) and IPv6.
  • Previous experience providing dedicated end-user technical support.
  • Familiarity with helpdesk or CRM software platforms.
  • Outstanding communication skills and a highly personable approach.

Desirable Experience:

  • Wireless design and diagnostics using Ekahau, Hamina or Sidos.
  • Working knowledge of Proxmox virtualisation.
  • Experience in Wireless ISP (WISP) design.
  • MikroTik certification (Engineer level).
  • Working knowledge of key vendors, including Ubiquiti, MikroTik and TP-Link.
