Scottish Widows Platform - Technical Consultant
Salary & Location
Salary: £40,824pa to £49,800pa plus benefits Location: Edinburgh or Dundee Hours: Full-time Working Pattern: Hybrid (minimum two days per week or 40% of your time based at one of our office sites)
About the Role
We’re looking for a Technical Consultant to join our Platform Technical team within Customer Services Operations. In this CRITICAL role, you’ll:
- Build deep knowledge of the Scottish Widows Platform and our products (SIPP, ISA, GIA, and Trusts)
- Work closely with colleagues across Operations and the wider business
- Provide clear, accurate technical guidance to internal teams, Advisers, and business areas
- Support complex queries (including complaints) while ensuring consistently strong customer outcomes
- Identify opportunities to simplify processes and improve operational efficiency
- Collaborate across Operations to support problem-solving and achievements
- Represent Customer Services Operations in projects and incident activity
- Contribute to technical training for colleagues, building capability and confidence
You’ll be part of a collaborative and supportive team, with opportunities to develop your expertise while deliver continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
- Support complex queries, ensuring the right resolutions (including customer complaints)
- Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency
- Develop and deliver technical training sessions for colleagues
- Partner with cross-functional teams to solve operational challenges
- Advocate for Operational Customer Services in key discussions and activities

Requirements
Essential
You must have: ✅ Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a financial services operations environment (preferably in areas including pensions, ISAs, Trusts or GIAs) ✅ Strong analytical skills, with the ability to break down complex information for clarity and accessibility ✅ A proven track record in detailed calculations and identifying errors ✅ Effective organisation and attention to detail, alongside the ability to manage multiple priorities
Desirable
It would strengthen your application if you have: 🔹 Knowledge of on-shore and off-shore bonds 🔹 Experience supporting projects in a technical capacity 🔹 Expertise in applying financial legislation to resolve operational or customer-facing issues 🔹 Prior experience dealing with complaints or resolving complex technical queries
