About the role

FITFILE is looking for a Technical Delivery Engineer to own the technical delivery of customer environments and their maintenance and support. This is a hands-on role that blends deep engineering execution with cross-functional coordination. The successful candidate will manage system configurations, perform root cause analysis, monitor performance, apply fixes and bridge the gap between software developers, end-users, and client-facing project managers to align technical design with business requirements.

The Technical Delivery Engineer must be a software engineer who enjoys balancing deep-dive execution with driving technical continuity across the full project lifecycle. They will work closely with the Head of Engineering and Senior Engineers and sit between the technical team and FITFILE’s customers, which include NHS Trusts and major Pharma industry players.

What the successful candidate will do

Deployment & Configuration

  • Lead the technical implementation of FITFILE's software into client environments — maintaining and evolving the processes and documentation that ensure repeatable, consistent delivery across all customer deployments, including infrastructure and Kubernetes provisioning via Terraform and application deployment via Argo CD
  • Work with customers’ technical teams on firewall rules, network architecture, and security configurations required to bring an environment live
  • Own the technical configuration of client environments post-deployment — access to application, setting up databases, feature flagging, and unblocking technical project continuity
  • Ensure each environment is stable, validated, and technically ready before passing it to the customer for UAT

Operations & Maintenance

  • Own the ongoing technical health of all live customer environments — monitoring performance, diagnosing issues, performing root cause analysis
  • Triage and fix bugs arising in customer environments — whether that means a configuration change, a pipeline fix, or writing and deploying a code-level resolution (together with FITFILE Software Engineers if scale and/or complexity requires it)
  • Manage access changes, patch updates, and routine maintenance tasks across customer environments, following FITFILE’s security and compliance processes
  • Coordinate with the core engineering team on issues that require product-level changes — providing the necessary context and supplying relevant documentation to support resolution
  • Execute releases into customer environments - versioning, deployment sequencing, and rollback procedures, ensuring changes are applied safely and with minimal disruption to live operations

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Customer & Technical Engagement

  • Facilitate technical discovery with customers — ask the right questions to surface real requirements around infrastructure, data access, security and user management
  • Lead the technical narrative on every project — keep customers informed of blockers, expectations, and progress through clear documentation and direct conversation before issues escalate
  • Explain technical trade-offs, delays, and decisions to customers with the right level of abstraction — communicate honestly about complexity, be clear on implications and free of unnecessary jargon

What we are looking for

Engineering Background & Delivery

  • Expected to have 5+ years of software engineering experience — built, shipped and operated production systems with a strong understanding of what it takes to keep them running
  • Strong technical foundation — able to have meaningful architecture discussions with technical and non-technical teams
  • Proven track record of owning technical problems end to end — able to lead the technical response, produce incident reports, and release fixes directly into customer environments
  • A genuine desire to work directly with end users — able to understand their pain points, come up with solutions, and provide technical continuity across the full project lifecycle
  • Experience working across multiple customer environments simultaneously, managing competing priorities and keeping a clear picture of the technical state of each
  • Ability to break down complex implementation work into clear, sequenced tasks — expected to estimate effort realistically and identify dependencies before they become blockers
  • Ability to track and surface technical debt as a delivery risk — understands that shortcuts taken during implementation have a cost that needs to be managed
  • Strong written communication — documentation, diagrams and run-books are clear, accurate and useful to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders

Technical Skills

  • Worked with a production relational database (e.g. PostgreSQL), with solid understanding of joins, aggregations, indexing and how to optimise complex queries
  • Familiar with shipping multiple TypeScript features to production, ideally working confidently across Node.js and Python
  • Worked with Kubernetes or a comparable container orchestration platform and is comfortable with Docker
  • Has solid understanding of Infrastructure as Code and has worked with Terraform, Helm, or similar tooling
  • Worked with at least one major cloud platform; Azure or AWS are preferred but GCP is also considered
  • Understands the importance of observability and has used a major monitoring platform such as Grafana in a production context
  • Worked with CI/CD tooling beyond routine code contributions, including pipeline configuration and maintenance
  • Has a strong understanding of networking fundamentals — firewalls, DNS, VPNs, and access control in the context of secure enterprise deployments
  • Has interest in, or ideally experience with, AI-assisted tooling applied to deployment, testing, or operational workflows

Domain experience

  • Track record working with NHS organisations and ideally life science industry players — understands the dynamics of implementing solutions in complex healthcare settings, including governance with many stakeholders
  • Hands-on experience with healthcare data — knowledgeable about patient data, how it is structured, and why its sensitivity matters operationally and legally
  • Experience in a startup or fast-paced scale-up environment where a good number of processes are being built or evolved rather than just followed

What does FITFILE offer?

  • Location and flexibility: A virtual-first working model with genuine location flexibility, FITFILE team members meet fortnightly in London.
  • Compensation: Competitive salary communicated during the recruitment process, with a benefits package reviewed regularly to remain attractive.
  • Holiday: 25 days of annual leave plus UK bank holidays.
  • Development: Structured support for training and personal development, with budget and time allocated rather than left to the individual to pursue.
  • Culture and structure: A flat structure with experienced, results-oriented leadership. Engineers are expected and encouraged to contribute to how FITFILE builds, ships, and operates, this is not a company where process is handed down.
  • Impact: Work on technically complex problems in a domain where the outcomes matter. FITFILE's platform directly enables better use of health data at scale, with real consequences for research and patient outcomes.
  • Team: Regular team events and a genuine emphasis on a supportive, enjoyable working environment.

Interview Process

  1. Introduction call (Product Director)
  2. Technical Introduction (Head of Engineering)
  3. Technical Interview (with coding test)
  4. Final stage with Founder and CEO

We aim to be fast, clear and easy to interact with.
