Because of a key strategic development and a new exciting business opportunity, we have a requirement for a security-cleared Infrastructure Engineer based in the UK working at our Farnborough site and remotely.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Technical Delivery Manager to lead the design and deployment of IT infrastructure and hardware-based systems within a UK MOD secure facility. This is a technical leadership role, responsible for coordinating multidisciplinary engineering delivery teams operating within a classified UK MOD environment.

The successful candidate will lead the delivery of mission-critical capabilities from design through to installation, testing, customer acceptance, and transition into service. The role requires exceptional stakeholder management skills, the ability to coordinate external vendors, and the technical credibility to lead engineering teams through complex challenges and emergent issues.

The successful candidate will work closely with the THOR Chief Engineer, Solution Architects, Security Leads, Test Teams, and MOD stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of operational capability within schedule, cost, and quality constraints.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Delivery Leadership

    • Lead the end-to-end delivery of hardware-based IT infrastructure and integrated system capabilities.
    • Manage the planning and execution of design, build, installation, integration, testing, and acceptance activities.
    • Direct multidisciplinary engineering teams including infrastructure, systems engineering, cyber security, integration, test, and service transition personnel.
    • Ensure solutions comply with programme architecture, security accreditation requirements, and engineering governance processes.
    • Drive delivery readiness reviews, installation planning, and operational deployment activities.
  • Customer and Stakeholder Management

    • Act as the primary delivery interface with UK MOD stakeholders and customer representatives.
    • Build and maintain effective working relationships across technical, operational, and commercial communities.
    • Present delivery status, technical risks, and mitigation plans to programme and customer leadership.
    • Support governance forums including design reviews, installation readiness reviews, acceptance reviews, and delivery boards.

  • Supplier and Vendor Coordination

    • Coordinate delivery activities across subcontractors, system vendors, and third-party suppliers.
    • Manage technical dependencies between suppliers to ensure successful integration and deployment.
    • Oversee supplier performance against agreed delivery milestones and technical requirements.
  • Engineering and Problem Resolution

    • Provide leadership in resolving complex technical and delivery challenges.
    • Drive collaborative problem-solving across engineering disciplines.
    • Manage emergent issues, installation challenges, and operational constraints within highly classified environments.
    • Escalate and manage technical risks appropriately whilst maintaining delivery momentum.
  • Acceptance and Transition

    • Lead acceptance planning and execution activities in conjunction with customer representatives and test teams.
    • Ensure compliance with programme acceptance processes and evidence requirements.
    • Support operational transition and service handover activities.
    • Ensure all delivered capabilities meet technical, security, and operational acceptance criteria.
  • Programme Control

    • Maintain delivery schedules, resource plans, and technical dependencies.
    • Provide accurate reporting on progress, risks, issues, and opportunities.
    • Support programme and financial management activities.
    • Contribute to earned value management activities where appropriate.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience operating within UK MOD Above Secret or equivalent highly classified environments.
  • Demonstrable experience leading the delivery of IT infrastructure or systems integration programmes.
  • Strong understanding of systems integration, infrastructure deployment, and operational acceptance processes.
  • Experience working directly with UK MOD customers and stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting security accreditation and secure-by-design implementation.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead multidiscipline engineering teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience managing installation, migration, and deployment activities within operational environments.
  • Ability to identify, manage, and resolve complex technical and delivery issues.
  • Strong risk and dependency management capabilities.
  • Experience working within structured engineering and delivery governance frameworks.

Desirable Experience

  • Control Account Manager (CAM) experience.
  • Knowledge of MOD acquisition, assurance, and acceptance processes.
  • Familiarity with ITIL service transition and operational handover activities.

Clearance Requirements

This role will require Developed Vetting (DV) Security Clearance. Those candidates without DV must be suitable for the process and will be required to commence application immediately upon successful application.

Location

The role is based at the Leidos Farnborough office for the majority of the time with occasional travel to customer locations and working from home.

Pay Range

£61,500.00 - £78,800.00
