About the Role

AECOM is seeking a late-stage Technical Design Lead to spearhead the design and delivery of complex hyperscale, colocation, and enterprise data centre projects across Europe. This is a client-facing, hands-on delivery role, with opportunities for career advancement and exposure to high-profile, fast-moving projects.

This role requires extensive travel across our UK & Ireland (UKI) and European offices.

Key Responsibilities

As the Technical Design Lead, you will:

  • Lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary design teams (including Architecture, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Security, Fire Protection, ICT, and BMS/EPMS) across UKI and Europe.
  • Oversee all project phases—from site due diligence and campus planning through conceptual, schematic, and detailed design, to construction documentation.
  • Ensure high-quality design outputs that align with client expectations and project timelines, while proactively managing project risks.
  • Work alongside Sector and Commercial teams to ensure compliance, contractual governance, and risk mitigation.
  • Build and maintain strategic client relationships, acting as the interlocutor with Client CAM (Client Advisory Meetings).
  • Present complex technical and design considerations to clients and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with local design and delivery teams to ensure they meet local permitting and regulatory requirements.
  • Deliver prompt responses to client needs in a dynamic environment.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
