Specwall Technical Design Manager
Specwall is looking to recruit an additional Technical Design Manager to support the continued growth of our advanced walling systems across the UK construction market.
This is an important technical role within a developing business, supporting project delivery, technical submissions, design coordination, product detailing, and customer-facing technical support.
While previous Specwall experience is not expected, the role would suit someone with a strong background in light gauge steel, drylining, fire-rated systems, shaftwall, façade, partitioning, modular construction, or specialist walling systems.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will work closely with the Specwall technical, commercial, and operational teams to prepare project-specific design information, technical drawings, installation details, and supporting documentation for clients, contractors, consultants, and manufacturing partners.
The role requires a practical designer who can understand construction detailing, interpret project requirements, and develop clear technical solutions suitable for manufacture and installation.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare CAD drawings and project-specific technical details for Specwall systems.
- Produce design information for client submissions, technical approvals, and construction issue.
- Develop 2D and 3D models to explain product build-ups, interfaces, and installation methodology.
- Support the preparation and maintenance of technical documents, standard details, drawing registers, and installation guidance.
- Assist with design coordination between clients, architects, structural engineers, fire consultants, contractors, and installers.
- Review project information and identify key technical requirements, risks, interfaces, and buildability issues.
- Support product development, testing, certification, and continuous improvement of the Specwall system.
- Assist with technical queries from site teams, installers, and manufacturing partners.
- Attend design meetings, site visits, and project reviews where required.
- Help develop visual technical content, including 3D images, installation sequences, and presentation material.
- Work with the wider team to ensure drawings, details, and technical submissions are accurate, consistent, and professionally presented.

Ideal Experience
The ideal candidate will have experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Light gauge steel framing systems.
- Drylining, partitions, shaftwall, or fire-rated wall systems.
- Modular or off-site construction.
- Precast, panelised, or specialist walling systems.
- Building envelope, façade, or internal wall construction.
- Fire-rated construction detailing.
- Technical design support for contractors, manufacturers, or specialist subcontractors.
Specific Specwall experience is not required, as training will be provided.
Required Skills
- Good understanding of construction drawings and technical detailing.
- Strong CAD capability, preferably AutoCAD or similar.
- Ability to produce clear, accurate, and coordinated technical drawings.
- Understanding of site installation, buildability, and construction sequencing.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients, consultants, contractors, and internal teams.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and technical tasks at the same time.
- Practical, problem-solving approach.
- Competence with Microsoft Office.
- 3D modelling experience, such as SketchUp, Revit, Blender, or similar, would be advantageous.

Desirable Skills
- Experience with fire-rated systems, smoke shafts, risers, partitions, or façade interfaces.
- Knowledge of UK construction standards, Building Regulations, and technical submission processes.
- Experience producing installation manuals, standard details, or technical approval documents.
- Experience working with manufacturing, site teams, or specialist subcontractors.
- Understanding of quality control, testing, or certification processes.

Location
UK based. Hybrid working may be considered, with attendance at project sites, manufacturing facilities, and meetings as required.
Salary
Competitive, dependent on experience.
