About the role

As guardian of our stringent quality & safety policies and standards, I lead the product development process and ensure our products are safe, legal and responsibly sourced through proactive management of suppliers.

This role is to manage the Hard Cheese, Soft Cheese and Dairy Alternatives category.

You will be responsible for

  • Risk assessing my products to be safe, legal, responsibly sourced and meet the Tesco rules & policies.
  • Managing the product development process with my NWT & suppliers, ensuring quality for customers and that our products are formulated in line with our product rules, corporate initiatives & brand guidelines.
  • Managing the delivery of our health and responsible sourcing agenda across my supply base.
  • Managing my products to always be great quality through on-going monitoring and reformulations.
  • Managing risk in our supply chain, from source, ingredients and raw materials, processing, manufacturing and Tesco routes to market. (safety, business & reputational risks)
  • Playing an active role in the supplier strategy for my area, ensuring we use the best suppliers & sources.
  • Driving & developing supplier capability through collaborative engagement, setting clear goals and measuring progress. I do this by having Joint Quality Plans (JQPs) in place with all relevant suppliers.
  • Responding to complaints and incidents quickly and effectively, ensuring stakeholders are aware and relevant action is taken to protect customers and Tesco.
  • I challenge myself to learn new skills and keep abreast of the latest thinking in my industry to help drive innovation.
  • Developing and coaching my direct reports and supporting them to be their best.
  • Following our Business Code of Conduct, acting with integrity and due diligence. I speak up if something isn't right.

You will need

  • Supplier & Stakeholder - influencing, clear communication and presentation skills
  • Experience of working in the food/GNF industry
  • Relevant experience/qualifications in related area
  • Project and critical path management
  • Relevant product knowledge to deliver safe, legal, responsibly sourced products to the customer.
  • End to end supply chain understanding
  • Data Analysis and decision making
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Risk Assessment and management
  • Managing complex supply chain
  • People management (where applicable)
  • End to end product and proposition development.
  • Good IT & Systems skills
