Technical Director - Global Flooring & Stage Systems
Location: Flexible (UK / Europe Preferred)
Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer
Travel: International travel required
Salary: Negotiable for the right candidate

As we continue our international growth, we are seeking an experienced Technical Director to lead our global technical function and play a key role in the development of the next generation of performance flooring and staging systems.
The Opportunity
We're looking for an experienced engineering professional who combines strong technical expertise with commercial awareness and international leadership capability.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Technical Director will provide strategic and operational leadership across the Group's technical activities.
The successful candidate will lead technical support for sales and project teams, oversee product development and engineering, support manufacturing excellence, and ensure our products continue to set the industry benchmark for performance, safety, and innovation.
This is a highly visible international leadership role working across engineering, manufacturing, sales, project management, and executive leadership teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Group's global technical function.
- Provide expert technical support throughout the sales and project lifecycle.
- Develop technical specifications, engineering drawings, and installation methodologies.
- Review complex project requirements and develop practical engineering solutions.
- Support National Technical Managers on major international projects.
- Carry out site inspections, technical assessments, and problem resolution.
- Act as the senior technical authority for complex customer enquiries.

Product Development & Innovation
- Lead new product development programmes.
- Improve existing flooring and timber stage systems.
- Work alongside manufacturing to improve product performance, quality, and production efficiency.
- Evaluate new materials, technologies, and manufacturing techniques.
- Support product testing, certification, and compliance with international standards.
- Develop future technical roadmaps supporting the company's strategic objectives.
Commercial Support
- Assist sales teams with technical presentations and customer meetings.
- Support quotations, costing, and value engineering.
- Provide technical input into specifications and tender documentation.
- Assist project teams with installation planning and risk management.
- Investigate technical issues and customer claims, identifying long-term improvements.
Manufacturing & Quality
- Support manufacturing facilities with continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop global technical standards and installation procedures.
- Work closely with suppliers to improve product quality and reliability.
- Ensure compliance with relevant British, European, and international standards.
- Maintain technical documentation, installation manuals, and product literature.
Leadership & Knowledge Sharing
- Mentor and support Technical Managers across the Group.
- Deliver technical training programmes for sales, installation, and operations teams.
- Promote engineering best practice across all international businesses.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Requirements
- Minimum eight years in a senior technical or engineering leadership position.
- Extensive knowledge of commercial flooring systems, PVC flooring, or engineered timber products.
- Strong understanding of timber stage construction.
- Formal carpentry qualification.
- Excellent knowledge of CAD and technical drawing interpretation.
- Experience supporting quotations, engineering design, and project delivery.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Commercially aware with excellent customer-facing skills.
- Experience working across international teams.
- ERP and CRM system experience.
- Fluent English.
- Willingness to travel internationally.
Desirable
- Theatre, performing arts, or entertainment industry experience.
- Knowledge of acoustics and vibration control.
- Structural flooring or stage engineering experience.
- Understanding of sustainability, environmental standards, and product lifecycle management.
- Additional European languages.
