Technical Director
We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Technical Director to lead our technical strategy, service delivery, and engineering teams. This role is responsible for ensuring the successful design, implementation, and ongoing management of secure, scalable, and high-quality IT solutions for our customers. The Technical Director will bridge technical leadership, commercial awareness, and operational excellence, driving innovation while maintaining high service standards and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Strategy & Leadership
- Define and deliver the company’s technical vision and roadmap aligned to business objectives
- Evaluate emerging technologies and vendors to ensure best-in-class solutions
- Maintain oversight of architecture across cloud, infrastructure, networking, and security
- Act as the senior escalation point for complex technical issues
Service Delivery & Operations
- Ensure consistent, high-quality delivery of managed services and project work
- Oversee technical standards, documentation, and best practices
- Drive continual service improvement and automation across support and delivery teams
- Monitor performance against SLAs, KPIs, and customer expectations
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop technical teams (engineering, support, and projects)
- Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability and continuous improvement
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention of technical talent
- Identify and close skills gaps through training and development plans

Customer Engagement
- Act as a senior technical advisor for key customers and strategic accounts
- Support pre-sales activity, including solution design and bid responses
- Ensure customer solutions are aligned with best practice, security standards, and commercial objectives
- Build long-term trusted relationships with customers
Commercial & Pre-Sales Support
- Provide technical input into proposals, tenders, and Statements of Work
- Support pricing strategies and solution profitability
- Work closely with sales teams to develop compelling, competitive offerings
Governance, Security & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to security frameworks, compliance standards, and ISO requirements
- Oversee risk management relating to technology and service delivery
- Maintain and improve governance processes across technical operations
Key Skills & Experience
Essential
- Proven experience in a senior technical leadership role (Head of IT, Technical Director, or similar)
- Strong background in:
- Microsoft cloud ecosystem (Azure, Microsoft 365)
- Networking and infrastructure (LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, switching)
- Cyber security solutions and frameworks
- Backup and disaster recovery solutions
- Experience delivering managed services and complex IT projects
- Strong stakeholder management and customer-facing experience
- Commercial awareness with the ability to balance technical and financial outcomes

Desirable
- Experience within MSP or IT services environments
- Knowledge of enterprise vendors (e.g. Microsoft, HPE, Aruba, Fortinet, Veeam, etc.)
- Experience with ERP/CRM systems and automation technologies
- Relevant certifications (Microsoft, Cisco, ITIL, ISO, etc.)
