Climate17 is delighted to be partnering with a rapidly growing international environmental and social advisory consultancy to appoint a Technical Director – Biodiversity & Natural Capital.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a senior biodiversity and natural capital professional to join an ambitious, purpose-led consultancy supporting investors, developers and financial institutions on major infrastructure and development projects across the globe.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the growth of the Biodiversity & Natural Capital advisory practice, combining technical leadership, client advisory, business development and people leadership within a collaborative, entrepreneurial and internationally focused business.
The Opportunity
As a senior leader within the business, you'll be responsible for driving the continued growth and technical excellence of the Biodiversity & Natural Capital service.
Working with international lenders, investors, developers and project teams, you'll provide strategic advice on biodiversity risk, environmental and social performance, sustainable finance requirements and international best practice, helping clients successfully deliver complex infrastructure and development projects.
Alongside project delivery, you'll play a central role in business development, mentoring technical teams and expanding the consultancy's capabilities across biodiversity and natural capital.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic growth and technical direction of the Biodiversity & Natural Capital advisory practice.
- Develop and implement business plans that support technical excellence, innovation and sustainable growth.
- Act as a senior technical adviser and trusted partner to clients across major international projects.
- Lead the delivery of complex biodiversity assessments, due diligence, monitoring and advisory assignments.
- Oversee project quality, budgets, commercial performance and risk management.
- Provide technical leadership on proposals, bids and client presentations.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities, building long-term client relationships across the investor, developer and financial institution community.
- Mentor and develop multidisciplinary technical teams, supporting knowledge sharing and career development.
- Represent the business at industry events, conferences and client meetings, helping strengthen the consultancy's market profile.
- Monitor emerging biodiversity, natural capital and ESG policy, legislation and international best practice, ensuring clients receive market-leading advice.

About You
We're keen to speak with professionals who have:
- Significant experience leading biodiversity and/or natural capital advisory projects within environmental consultancy, infrastructure, sustainable finance or ESG advisory.
- A strong track record of developing client relationships and winning consultancy work.
- Experience working with developers, investors, lenders or international financial institutions.
- Strong knowledge of international environmental and social standards, including IFC Performance Standards, the Equator Principles and other recognised ESG frameworks.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and delivering technically complex international projects.
- Commercial awareness with the ability to balance technical excellence and successful project delivery.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management and leadership skills.
- A collaborative leadership style with a passion for developing people and growing technical capability.
- The right to work in the UK.
