SLR is a global leader in sustainability solutions, working with clients to help make sustainability happen, within a collaborative, people-first culture. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Technical Director – Ecology to join our established Ecology team in Leeds, delivering high-profile projects across the power, mining & minerals, infrastructure and built environment sectors.
You'll play a leading role in delivering ecological services for large and complex multidisciplinary projects, working closely with clients and colleagues across the business. The role includes:
- Project and technical leadership for ecology inputs on major projects
- Client management, business development and proposal support
- Mentoring and coaching less experienced ecologists
- Desk-based project work alongside occasional site visits and travel across the UK, and potentially overseas
You'll collaborate with colleagues across Planning, Landscape, Hydrology, Noise, Air Quality and other specialist disciplines, delivering impactful projects while helping to grow SLR's ecology offering across the UK and internationally.

About You
- Extensive ecological consultancy experience, ideally across infrastructure, power, mining & minerals and built environment sectors
- Relevant degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Biological Sciences or a related discipline
- Significant project management and stakeholder engagement experience
- Proven track record of developing client relationships, winning new work and supporting business growth
- Appropriate level of membership with CIEEM or equivalent professional body
- Strong technical reporting, communication and problem-solving skills
- Passion for delivering high-quality ecological work and developing others
- A driving licence that permits you to legally drive in the UK is required for site visits
