Role Overview
This role is offered on a UK employment contract. Candidates must be based in the UK as we are unable to support remote working from outside the country due to local employment and tax legislation.
This role sits within Deltatre's Engineering & Technology function, at the interface between clients — both external (broadcasters, rights holders, OTT operators) and internal (product, delivery, commercial) — and the multi-disciplinary teams building the platforms that power OTT streaming, VOD, digital media, and connected consumer experiences for major international sports and entertainment brands. Technical Directors are the point of technical accountability across the full lifecycle of a project, from architecture and estimation through delivery and post-launch iteration.
As Technical Director, you hold full technical ownership across projects spanning multiple platforms and technologies — web front-end (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React),.NET and C# backend services, and native mobile (Android, iOS). You lead architectural decisions, drive requirements gathering and estimation, and combine hands-on technical practice with the leadership and mentoring that scale a team's engineering standards over time. The role rewards technical breadth, credibility with clients under pressure, and the discipline to keep documentation, code quality, and delivery predictability at the level Deltatre platforms require.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Requirements
You have led the technical delivery of large-scale, multi-platform projects before — over months, not sprints — and you can hold both the architecture conversation and the client escalation conversation with the same steadiness. You are credible with engineers because you still do the work, and credible with clients because you can explain what is happening technically without hiding behind jargon.
Required
- Demonstrated experience delivering large-scale projects or products over multi-month cycles in a technical leadership role — ideally in OTT streaming, digital agency, or a product-based organisation
- Broad technical fluency across the full delivery stack: web front-end (React, JavaScript, HTML, CSS),.NET / C#, native Android, native iOS
- Deep expertise in at least one core mobile stack — Android (Java / Kotlin, RxJava, Dagger, Gradle) or iOS (Swift, Alamofire, Kingfisher, In-App Purchase)
- Solution architecture experience for digital media platforms, with a working understanding of the trade-offs across the delivery stack
- Requirements gathering, refinement, and estimation for complex multi-stream projects
- Stakeholder management experience — external (clients, partners) and internal (product, delivery, commercial)
- Demonstrated track record of upskilling teams through code review, mentoring, and technical guidance by example
- Hands-on experience setting up and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
- Working experience of Agile delivery in practice — not only in principle
- Documentation discipline — solution architecture records, technical specifications, decision logs
- Fluent written and spoken English
