Systems Integration Engineer

Location: Warton, Lancashire (Hybrid – minimum 3 days onsite)
Contract: 12 Months
Rate: £35.00 per hour PAYE or £47.12 Umbrella Inside IR35
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday–Friday
Security Clearance: BPSS required, SC eligible/in progress
Travel: Occasional overseas travel, including Saudi Arabia


The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Systems Integration Engineer to join the RSAF Tornado Engineering AGE Team. Supporting a critical defence programme, you will play a key role in integrating and managing engineering activities that ensure Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) continues to support the operational capability of the RSAF Tornado fleet.

Working within an established engineering team, you will collaborate with technical specialists, suppliers, customers, and key stakeholders to deliver engineering solutions, manage technical risks, and support programme milestones.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and deliver engineering integration activities across AGE projects.
  • Produce engineering management plans and support technical reviews.
  • Manage engineering risks, assumptions, opportunities, and design decisions.
  • Assess supplier and support equipment solutions for suitability.
  • Work closely with Systems Engineering, Product Safety, Product Security, Human Factors, and other specialist teams.
  • Support engineering planning, reporting, and programme governance activities.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including customer representatives and the Ministry of Defence.
  • Support equipment trials, acceptance activities, and customer meetings.

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ engineering experience within the aerospace or defence sector.
  • Good understanding of engineering processes, governance, and quality standards.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Systems-thinking approach with excellent problem-solving ability.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Degree in a STEM discipline or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Willingness to travel internationally when required.

Desirable Experience

  • Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) experience.
  • Equipment trials and acceptance activities.
  • Tornado aircraft knowledge.
  • Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) experience.
