Technical Lead
Technical Lead – Defence & Security Newcastle SC Cleared / Eligible
The Opportunity We’re looking for experienced Technical Leads to drive delivery across complex, mission-critical programmes in the Defence & Security sector. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll shape technical direction, lead high-performing teams, and deliver impactful solutions in challenging environments.
What You’ll Do Lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams across the full delivery lifecycle Set technical direction, architecture, and engineering standards Stay hands-on with development while guiding team output Run code and design reviews to ensure quality and consistency Mentor and support engineers at all levels Work closely with clients to shape requirements and build trusted relationships Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders Plan delivery, estimate work, and manage priorities Balance technical debt with delivery timelines in fast-paced environments

What You’ll Need Proven experience in a Technical Lead or senior engineering role Strong software engineering background with hands-on capability Experience leading cross-functional teams in complex environments Ability to define architecture and make sound technical trade-offs Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Experience working directly with clients or end users

Bonus Skills Experience in Defence, Security, or other high-assurance environments Familiarity with agile delivery methodologies Strong understanding of scalable systems and modern architectures
Security Requirement SC clearance (or willingness/eligibility to obtain) is required.
