Sapien Engineering are looking for a Technical Lead to join an Aerospace business on a contract basis.
This is a 12-month contract, outside of IR35 paying circa £50 per hour. This is an on-site role based in Derby, Derbyshire.
Job Description
An established engineering organisation specialising in advanced aerospace testing solutions is seeking an experienced Technical Lead to drive the development and delivery of high-fidelity test rigs used to validate complex aerospace and turbomachinery subsystems.

Job Responsibilities:
- Lead delivery of test and demonstration rig projects from concept to commissioning.
- Define system and programme requirements with customers and internal teams.
- Oversee design and integration of mechanical, fluid, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
- Review and approve technical documentation including CAD, drawings, wiring diagrams.
- Provide technical leadership during build, commissioning, troubleshooting, and validation.

Skills / Experience
- Degree in Aeronautical, Mechanical Engineering, or similar.
- Strong aerospace gas turbine sector experience.
- Experience designing rotating machinery test rigs or ground support equipment.
- Strong mechanical design, manufacturing, and assembly knowledge.
