Technical Lead
Lead. Build. Deliver.
If you're an exceptional Technical Lead who thrives on solving complex engineering challenges, enjoys leading talented teams, and wants to influence the delivery of innovative technology, we'd love to hear from you.
Based in the heart of Newcastle City Centre, we're creating an environment where exceptional engineers can tackle meaningful technical problems, work directly with clients, and shape the future of software delivery. We're looking for leaders who remain hands-on, enjoy writing high-quality code, and inspire those around them to do their best work.
This is far more than a management role. You'll be a trusted technical authority, an engineering mentor, and a key driver of delivery across multiple client engagements.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Technical Lead, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering complex software solutions while providing technical leadership across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the technical delivery of high-impact client projects from concept through to deployment.
- Remaining hands-on with software development, architecture, and technical problem-solving.
- Designing scalable, secure, and maintainable software architectures.
- Making key technical decisions, evaluating trade-offs, and setting engineering standards.
- Leading multidisciplinary teams of Software Engineers, DevOps Engineers, QA Engineers, and Architects.
- Mentoring and developing engineers at all stages of their careers, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
- Conducting code reviews and design reviews to ensure quality, consistency, and best practice.
- Working closely with clients to understand their challenges, shape technical solutions, and build long-term trusted relationships.
- Translating complex technical concepts into language that business stakeholders can understand.
- Leading technical workshops, discovery sessions, and solution design activities.
- Supporting project planning, delivery estimation, and resource forecasting.
- Identifying technical risks early and implementing practical mitigation strategies.
- Managing technical debt while balancing long-term sustainability with delivery commitments.
- Championing engineering excellence, modern development practices, and continuous improvement.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
