Job Description: Technical Lead for Generative AI & Cloud Technologies
Job Purpose/Overview
As the Technical Lead for Generative AI & Cloud Technologies, you will be the primary technical authority driving the design, integration, and development of enterprise-level artificial intelligence and cloud-native solutions.
- Reporting to the Global Head of Data, AI and Enterprise Architecture.
- Based in the FN Digital Technologies team, with a global role.
- You will partner with FN business and digital leaders across all functions.
Context and Scope
Mars Food & Nutrition is a leading CPG business that leverages digital technologies to innovate and optimise product delivery.
This Technical Lead position will:
- Ensure Insight, Thought Leadership, and Technology guidance for digital tech projects.
- Collaborate with the central Mars Inc. Digital Technology team—from current capabilities to exploratory innovations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical design, development, and implementation of AI/cloud technologies that align with business goals and strategic priorities.
- Rapidly prototype Proof of Concepts (PoCs) and Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) using AI models and frameworks to solve complex challenges.
- Collaborate cross-functionally (business stakeholders, PMs, developers, and analysts) to define technical specifications and gather requirements.
- Create detailed architecture designs balancing performance, security, integration, and user experience.
- Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance system performance and reliability.
- Monitor technology trends to keep solutions up-to-date and competitive.
- Assist in project estimation for timelines, resources, and budgets.
- Develop and maintain architecture standards, documentation, and technical roadmaps.

Job Specifications/Qualifications
Core Requirements
- 8-14 years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years in an architectural leadership or design-focused position.
- Hands-on coding expertise with expertise in AI-assisted tools like GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or similar.
- Experience in multi-agent orchestration, function calling, tool integration, long-term memory management, and security guardrails.
- Proficiency in integration technologies (APIs, REST, HTTPS, etc.).
- AI/ML and enterprise-scale application expertise, with hands-on experience in:
- SaaS AI platforms (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, Google Vertex AI, Google Gemini Enterprise, Claude).
- Enterprise integrations (Microsoft, Workday, SAP) for connected AI experiences across search and conversational AI.
- Advanced Azure/GCP expertise (preferred), particularly around:
- Modern compute (Kubernetes, AKS, EKS, Serverless).
- IAM, networking, and secure storage.
- 2-4 years’ experience in CPG or Retail domain.
- Strong technical problem-solving with strategic thinking to bridge business requirements and technical architectures.
- Excellent collaboration and influence (success in matrixed organisations).
- Ability to negotiate, advocate, and deliver without formal authority.
