Technical Lead
Hybrid – Attached to our Solihull, London or Hook office
Full Time, Permanent
Band 3 / £75,000 - £85,000 (dependent on experience)
Here at Serco, we're looking for a Technical Lead specialising in Microsoft technologies to provide technical leadership across a portfolio of digital products and platforms. You'll play a key role in designing, delivering and evolving secure, scalable cloud-based solutions using the Microsoft technology stack, helping to drive engineering excellence across our digital services.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you'll work across multidisciplinary teams, providing architectural guidance, mentoring engineers and ensuring solutions are built to the highest standards. You'll help shape technical direction, modernise platforms and deliver business-critical digital services that create real value for our customers.
As part of this you’ll:
- Lead the design and technical delivery of Microsoft-based digital solutions across cloud, integration and business applications
- Provide hands-on technical leadership to engineering teams, promoting best practice in software engineering and solution design
- Design scalable, secure and maintainable solutions using Microsoft Azure and the wider Microsoft ecosystem
- Guide development across technologies including Azure, Power Platform, Dynamics 365 and Microsoft integration services
- Work closely with Product Managers, Architects, Delivery Managers and Business Analysts to shape technical solutions
- Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture, security standards and governance requirements
- Drive engineering excellence across CI/CD, automation, testing, observability and DevOps practices
- Lead technical reviews, design assurance and code quality activities
- Mentor engineers and support the development of technical capability across teams
- Support the adoption of emerging Microsoft technologies, including AI capabilities where they provide clear business value

What you’ll need to do the role:
- Proven experience leading engineering teams delivering Microsoft cloud and enterprise solutions
- Strong technical expertise across Microsoft Azure and cloud-native architecture
- Experience delivering solutions using Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps, Power Automate and Power BI
- Experience with Dynamics 365, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, API Management or related Microsoft services would be advantageous
- Strong programming experience in technologies such as C#,.NET, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python and SQL
- Experience designing and delivering APIs, integrations and event-driven architectures
- Strong knowledge of DevOps practices including CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Bicep), automated testing and Git
- Experience working with modern engineering practices, secure development and cloud governance
- Ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Experience leading cross-functional teams within Agile delivery environments
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent experience
- Microsoft Azure or Power Platform certifications are desirable
- SC clearance (or willingness to obtain it)
