About the Role
Here at Serco, we are seeking a Technical Lead to join our Collaboration Services team, providing technical leadership and administration across our Microsoft 365 estate.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Microsoft 365 specialist to take ownership of critical identity and collaboration services, delivering technical leadership, operational support, and strategic guidance across a complex enterprise environment.
Reporting to the Collaboration Standard Service Manager, you will act as a senior technical authority and escalation point, helping to shape the future direction of Microsoft 365 platforms while ensuring stability, security, and performance of existing services.
Core Responsibilities
Your primary focus will be Microsoft Entra External ID (B2C), but you will operate broadly across the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, maintaining deep expertise in identity and collaboration technologies. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the administration, support, and evolution of Microsoft 365 services across UK and European tenants.
- Guiding the adoption of B2B collaboration and supporting existing B2C platforms.
- Administering and maintaining services such as:
- Microsoft Entra ID
- Entra Connect
- Exchange Online and Hybrid Exchange
- Intune
- Enterprise Applications
- App Registrations
- Conditional Access Policies, MFA, and SSO
- Overseeing tenant configurations, security policies, and governance controls.
- Leading technical troubleshooting and escalation support for complex incidents.
- Collaborating with Delivery, Operations, Engineering teams, Microsoft, and third-party suppliers to resolve issues.
- Developing and maintaining technical documentation, architecture, and standards.
- Monitoring Microsoft roadmaps for opportunities to improve services.
- Mentoring junior engineers and offering technical guidance.

About You
This role requires a highly experienced Microsoft 365 professional with:
- Deep technical expertise in identity and access management (IAM) technologies, particularly Microsoft Entra External ID (B2C).
- Extensive hands-on experience in administering, troubleshooting, and deploying Entra ID and related Azure services.
- SME-level knowledge of the broader Microsoft 365 stack (Exchange, Intune, SharePoint, etc.).
- Minimum 4 years’ experience supporting enterprise Microsoft 365 environments.
- Proven experience in:
- Configuring and maintaining Conditional Access, MFA, SSO, and hybrid identity solutions.
- Analysing logs and troubleshooting complex issues.
- Working in large-scale, multi-tenant environments.
- Developing service designs, documentation, and operational procedures.
- Managing technical escalations under pressure.
- Desirable skills/experience:
- Experience with Google Workspace administration and integration.
- Support for Apple/macOS and iOS device estates.
- Knowledge of large-scale identity transformation programmes.
- Microsoft certifications (Cloud Phi, IAM, Azure, or M365 related).

On-call obligations: Optional participation in a Priority 1 technical support rota.
