Technical Lead - Architecture
Technical Leader – Practice-Wide Oversight (UK Commercial & High Rise Multi-Residential Projects)
An established, multi-studio architecture practice seeks to appoint a Technical Leader to provide comprehensive technical oversight across Commercial & High Rise Multi-Residential projects in the UK.
About the Role
This senior, strategic position is ideal for an experienced Architect or Chartered Architectural Technologist who excels in:
- Setting high technical standards
- Guiding multidisciplinary teams
- Leading on building safety, compliance, and buildability
Core Responsibilities
The Technical Leader will act as the central technical authority, overseeing projects from early design development through construction and handover, collaborating closely with: ✔ Project Leaders ✔ Teams across all RIBA stages (3–6)

Key duties include:
- Leading technical design reviews and advisory support
- Advising on Building Regulations, fire, and life safety compliance
- Supporting construction delivery and advanced technical coordination
- Developing practice-wide technical standards, guidance and quality systems
- Engaging stakeholders—contractors, consultants, and clients—to ensure robust and compliant project outputs
Requirements
- 15+ years’ post-qualification experience specialising in:
- UK Residential, Commercial or mixed-use schemes (RIBA Stages 3–6 preferred)
- Strong technical knowledge of:
- The Building Safety Act
- Fire safety protocols
- Detailed construction execution
- Confident communication with contractors, consultants, and clients to align technical requirements
- Proven capability as a mentor dedicated to shaping technical capability across teams and studios
