At Unmind, we're here to create better mental health.

We believe mental health should be a source of strength, not struggle – for people, teams, and entire organisations. We combine science, technology, and human care to help companies like Uber, Disney, Major League Baseball, and the NHS improve mental health and drive performance.

Now we’re looking for more brilliant people to help us do it.

πŸš€ Our Values

We’re building a company where ambition and empathy go hand in hand.

  • Outpace the rest – Move fast. Deliver excellence.
  • Stronger together – We go further, faster, together.
  • Client first – We win, when our clients win.

🌈 Inclusion & Belonging

We’re building a place where everyone feels seen, heard, and supported – and where difference is celebrated.

🎯 The Role β€” Technical Lead

We're looking for a Technical Lead to join one of our product teams, reporting to an Engineering Manager. You'll play a key role in enabling the team to build at pace and to a quality our users and clients can rely on.

This means partnering with the Product Manager to find lean ways of moving the team's metrics, representing technology needs for the roadmap and owning the team's technical direction, quality and approach.

The role is hands-on - building alongside the team's other Engineers and managing your own time between delivery and leadership work. You'll also work with our Staff Engineers to align the team's work with longer-term technical direction across our domains.

Our stack includes TypeScript, React, GraphQL, Node.js, Python, Golang and SQL. You don't need hands-on experience with every tool; we're more interested in strong software engineering fundamentals and curiosity to learn.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer β€” it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet β€” that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

You'll embed AI into how you deliver. Use Claude Code throughout your workflow – scoping, designing, coding, reviewing, documenting – and contribute to our collective learning by sharing what's working back to the team.

In this role, you'll:

  • Partner with the Product Manager as their technical counterpart - finding lean ways of moving the team's metrics while meeting our technical governance needs; pressure-testing priorities and approach; and shaping what gets built using technical and business knowledge.
  • Represent technology in product and roadmap conversations - technical goals, non-functional requirements and the technical investments needed to keep the team moving - working with Staff Engineers to align with Unmind's longer-term technical direction across domains.
  • Own the technical direction of the team - architecture, day-to-day technical decisions and technical risk - ensuring what's built progresses towards Unmind's broader technology direction.
  • Own the technical quality of the team's work - reviewing technical plans, raising the team's technical thinking and making sure what we ship works as intended.
  • Own the technical sequencing of the team's work - how technical work breaks down, how dependencies are handled and where the risks lie. You are the first point of contact for the EM when the team's technical work affects project-level delivery.
  • Build alongside the team - taking on complex work, raising the quality bar and mentoring the engineers around them on craft.

🌟 About You

Experience in the following is important for this position:

  • Proven track record as a Senior Engineer in product-focused teams - you've designed and shipped complex software, made architectural decisions and raised the bar of those around you through review and mentoring.
  • Strong track record of partnering with Product Managers, or similar product leadership roles - shaping what gets built rather than just executing on briefs, by bringing technical and business knowledge into product conversations.
  • A product and business mindset - you understand the business context of what you build, think in terms of user and business outcomes and connect technical decisions to value.
  • Experience making technical trade-offs with confidence - knowing when to optimise for pace, when to invest in quality and when to push back on scope or approach.
  • Comfortable communicating technical context to non-engineers - in writing and in person, with PMs, business stakeholders and across the wider organisation.
  • Able to operate with sound judgement and independence - making good calls with imperfect information, knowing when to involve others and managing your own time between hands-on work and leadership.
