Technical Lead
Position Details
- Salary: c. £60,000 per annum
- Hours: 35 hours per week
- Contract: Permanent
- Location: Hybrid (40% in-office: West Bromwich)
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Lead with extensive experience to assist in implementing IT projects while coordinating technical tasks and achieving project goals. The role involves:
- Working closely with Project Managers, identifying and resolving technical issues
- Overseeing project fulfilment from design to implementation
- Creating and upholding best-practice guidelines, recommending improvements, and optimising resource use
- Providing technical direction, including establishing a vision, resolving conflicts, and managing deliverable quality
The role demands strong leadership skills to engage teams and excellent communication to collaborate across projects. Adaptability is key—you’ll need to quickly learn new technologies and tackle daily challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee technical implementation and quality assurance of assigned projects
- Deliver scalable, maintainable, and high-performance IT systems aligned with business goals
- Analyse project and business needs to select appropriate solutions
- Develop digital and technical processes to meet project requirements
- Implement risk mitigation strategies and enforce Information Security best practices
- Lead the adoption of automation technologies
- Mentor and upskill IT technical teams
- Support Project Managers in producing high-quality documentation and management reports
Required Skills & Experience
Technical Expertise
- Proven experience in coordinating and deploying IT solutions
- Strong technical and process design skills, with experience guiding project direction
- Hands-on knowledge of:
- Microsoft Windows Server (accreditation preferred)
- Cloud infrastructure, Azure platform (preferably certified)
- VMware virtualisation (preferably accredited)
- RedHat Linux
- Network Infrastructure technologies
- Migrating/implementing Azure DevOps solutions
- Database systems (preferably MS SQL Server or Oracle)
- Automation tools (PowerShell, Ansible, Linux shell scripting)
- Experience in project visualisation, risk assessment, and technical documentation
