Technical Lifecycle Manager – Manchester (Permanent)
Location: Manchester, UK (based at Manchester Joint Hospitals, Oxford Road Complex) Contract Type: Permanent, full-time (40 hours per week) Salary: Competitive + benefits package
About the Role
Equans is seeking a Technical Lifecycle Manager to oversee planning, management, and execution of lifecycle works across the Oxford Road Complex while ensuring compliance, risk mitigation, and strategic decision-making.
Communicating effectively with internal stakeholders (Project Managers, FM teams, asset management), external partners (contractors, third parties), and end-users, this role ensures the delivery of high-quality, sustainable lifecycle services in a PFI (Private Finance Initiative) environment.
What Will You Deliver?
You will provide proactive, data-driven oversight of lifecycle strategies, ensuring:
Planning & Compliance

Generate immediate, intermediate, and long-term plans for all lifecycle works, leveraging key data to justify expenditure in line with:
- Contractual obligations
- Risk mitigation
- Budget compliance

Collaborate on Draw Down Requests, ensuring adherence to contractual protocols to optimise funding.
Audit & Optimisation

Audit asset performance, maintenance records, PPM (Preventive & Predictive Maintenance Plans), and commissioning data, guaranteeing compliance with industry standards while refining commercial decision-making processes.

Continuously assess net-zero technologies and climate resilience initiatives, aligning lifecycle assessment with strategic sustainability goals.
Compliance & Operability

Review and enforce: compliance documentation, legislative requirements, and operational manuals, ensuring alignment with regulatory frameworks.

Work with operational and asset management teams to maximise Computerised Facility Management (CaFM) systems for lifecycle planning and reporting.

Who Are We Looking For?
Essential Requirements:
- Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline (buildings services, mechanical/electrical preferred).
- 10+ years of direct experience in network environments, particularly with PFI healthcare/educational assets ( hospitals, universities).
- Chartered (or ability to achieve within 12 months) with a professional body (e.g., CIOB, ICE, IMechE).
- Deep understanding of:
- DHSC regulations (e.g., NHS estate management frameworks)
- Commercial financial controls (budget planning, value-based lifecycle assessment)
- Mechanical & electrical systems (HVAC, building controls, energy management)
- PFI-commercial expertise: Strong knowledge of PPA (Private Pool Arrangements), fund management, and stakeholder relations within a legally bound framework.
- Proactive influencing and motivation skills
- Evidence of right to work in the UK (no relocation support)
