As a Technical Maintenance Technician, you will support the development of best practices within the maintenance team. This will comprise of implementation of robust maintenance processes and safety practices as well as running improvement projects and driving change. You assist with the companies asset onboarding process to ensure that the maintenance department and other support departments within the group are equipped and trained in relevant requirements, have access to required spares and preventative maintenance schedules are documented. You will support the maintenance planning functions ensuring best practices are followed and using available data to support business decisions.
What You Will Do:
As a Technical Maintenance Technician, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Create, maintain and peer review standard works documentation for preventative maintenance activities and use of machine tools within the department.
- Develop & Documented safe procedures for all planned maintenance tasks as well as the creation of dynamic systems to control unplanned works.
- Review requirements to ensure that maintenance team are competent to the standard work processes.
- Mentor trainees and apprentices driving their development into future maintenance engineers.
- Provide technical assistance whilst developing knowledge to fault finding on both mechanical and electrical issues, including sourcing of spare parts and the setting of spare parts stock management.
What you can demonstrate:
- Project experience, driving process improvements and capital investments.
- An understanding of techniques used to diagnose problems and malfunctions in a wide variety of manufacturing equipment.
- Examples of development of procedures for preventive and reactive measures to help improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Mentoring experience of trainees or apprentices.
- Understanding of maintenance planning processes and systems to meet best practice and regulations.
- Examples of exposure to improving the effectiveness of machinery though projects or similar.
- Experience creating process instructions/standard work and risk assessments.
- Experience with COSHH assessments and best practices of use of chemicals such as metal working fluids.
- An understanding of using CAD modelling software packages for layout development and design of bespoke items supporting maintenance needs.

What you may have:
- Level 3 qualification in engineering or Manufacturing or equivalent experience desired, ideally a time served maintenance apprenticeship.
- IOSH Managing safely.
- Project management qualification, Green Belt or equivalent.
- Experience of Contractor management and permitting.
- Leadership experience.

Job Title: Technical Maintenance Technician
Salary:
- Starting salary of £37,900 rising to £42,000 once fully competent

The Building Construction Products (BCP) division team is comprised of more than 9,000 employees—from assemblers and accountants to marketing professionals and engineers—we work in factories, warehouses, and offices all over the world. We are responsible for the design, manufacturing, marketing and support of Caterpillar’s line of small, versatile construction machines and attachments for the commercial construction, residential construction, specialty trades, landscaping and agriculture industries. Products include small wheel loaders, compact wheel loaders, backhoe loaders, compact track loaders, mini hydraulic excavators, skid steer loaders, telehandlers and small track-type tractors.
