Holyhead Port services two ferry operators via two RoRo berths. In addition, the port attracts cruise ship calls and other cargo operations via its deep‑water jetty. The Technical Manager plays a key role in ensuring the port’s infrastructure, assets and facilities are maintained safely, efficiently and to a high standard, while supporting long‑term operational objectives across the Irish Sea business.

Some of your key responsibilities:

Lead, manage and support the Technical Services Team and all third‑party contractors, providing clear direction and priorities Plan, control and monitor all maintenance activities to ensure work is delivered safely, on time, on budget and in full compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements Full responsibility for planning, managing and controlling the maintenance budget, ensuring value for money and alignment with operational priorities Ensure the fabric condition, appearance and lifecycle care of the port, buildings, equipment and infrastructure are maintained to agreed standards Liaise closely with the Port Operations Manager, Harbour Master and other key stakeholders to ensure alignment of activities, objectives and operational priorities Drive improvements in maintenance efficiency, responsiveness, resilience and reporting, including the use of planned maintenance and asset management systems Ensure all maintenance, project and business activities are carried out in a safe working environment, actively promoting Stena Line’s safety culture Ensure full compliance with all relevant Health, Safety and Environmental legislation, company policies, procedures, quality systems and standards Identify, report and investigate incidents, risks and hazards in line with established systems and procedures Provide employees with appropriate information, instruction and support in relation to Health & Safety, operations and maintenance within the area of responsibility Control and monitor maintenance plans to ensure delivery is effective, compliant and aligned with long‑term asset and lifecycle planning Manage the port vehicle fleet to ensure compliance with all safety, legislative and company requirements Support and assist the Irish Sea Business Region as required

Qualifications:

HND or equivalent qualification in Civil, Maintenance or related Engineering discipline Experience in infrastructure and asset management, ideally within a Ports or Marine environment Experience working with planned maintenance and/or asset management systems Proven leadership capability, with experience managing and developing teams and contractors Some project management experience Experience in budget management and cost control Experience in contractor, supplier or service provider management Thorough knowledge and understanding of relevant Health & Safety, statutory, regulatory and technical requirements Fluent in written and spoken English Full UK driving licence
