Technical Manager
Technical Manager – Data Centre Projects
Location: London, United Kingdom Employment Type: Full-Time / Permanent Salary: £70,000–£80,000 + Benefits
A leading technology infrastructure and engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Technical Manager to support the successful delivery of hyperscale data centre projects across the UK.
This is a senior technical leadership role, focused on supporting projects throughout the full lifecycle—from bid and pre-construction, through to delivery, commissioning, and project closeout. The successful candidate will work closely with commercial, operational, and project delivery teams to ensure projects are technically robust, operationally efficient, and delivered to the highest standards.
The role requires extensive experience delivering large-scale data centre infrastructure projects, strong technical knowledge across ICT and structured cabling systems, and the ability to lead technical reviews, pre-construction planning, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Support bid, tender, and pre-construction activities for major infrastructure projects.
- Provide technical input throughout project planning, mobilisation, and delivery.
- Review specifications, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Develop project schedules and implementation strategies during tender stages.
- Support contract reviews and identify technical and operational risks.
- Coordinate pre-construction activities to ensure smooth project mobilisation.
- Develop testing documentation, quality processes, and project trackers.
- Support commissioning planning and project readiness activities.
- Review project risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Provide technical guidance to project delivery and operational teams.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
- Drive continuous improvement across project delivery processes.
- Support technical presentations, workshops, and client meetings.
- Lead technical reviews and assist with solution development.
- Support multiple concurrent data centre projects across the project lifecycle.

Essential
- Extensive experience delivering structured cabling, ICT infrastructure, low-voltage systems, or technology installations.
- Proven experience delivering hyperscale or mission-critical data centre projects.
- Strong technical project management background.
- Experience supporting pre-construction, bid, and mobilisation activities.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and schematics.
- Experience reviewing contracts, project scope, and technical deliverables.
- Strong knowledge of commissioning, testing, and handover processes.
- Experience managing multi-site or multi-project delivery.
- Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Experience leading multidisciplinary technical teams.
- Knowledge of formal project management methodologies.
- Strong organisational and documentation skills.

- Experience delivering electronic security or integrated technology projects.
- Knowledge of enterprise networking environments.
- Experience producing operational and management reports.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies such as PRINCE2.
- Industry certifications within structured cabling, project management, or data centres.
