Technical Manager - 6 Month FTC
Location: Leigh, Greater Manchester
Are you an experienced Technical Manager looking to take ownership of quality, food safety and compliance within a well-established manufacturing business?
We're partnering with a highly successful and growing food manufacturing company with an excellent reputation for quality, customer service and innovation. This is a fantastic opportunity to join the senior leadership team, where you'll play a key role in shaping technical standards, driving continuous improvement and ensuring the highest levels of food safety and regulatory compliance.

The Role
As Technical Manager, you'll lead the site's technical function, ensuring products consistently meet customer, legal and industry standards while driving a culture of food safety and quality across the business.
Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, you'll be responsible for managing the Quality Control department, supporting customer relationships and leading all aspects of technical compliance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the site's Technical and Quality Control functions.
- Managing food safety, quality and regulatory compliance across the business.
- Maintaining audit readiness for customer, third-party and certification audits.
- Leading investigations into technical issues and implementing effective corrective actions.
- Developing and improving quality management systems and technical procedures.
- Managing internal audit programmes and ensuring compliance with BRC and customer requirements.
- Building strong relationships with customers, suppliers and external auditors.
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, efficiency and food safety performance.
- Producing technical reports, KPIs and presenting updates to senior leadership.
- Coaching and developing the QC team to achieve high performance.

You'll ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Technical Manager or Senior Quality professional within food manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of BRCGS standards and food safety legislation.
- HACCP Level 3 (minimum).
- Experience leading customer, third-party and regulatory audits.
- Excellent understanding of GMP, quality systems and compliance.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and quality management systems.
- Knowledge of RSPO standards and wider food industry compliance requirements would be advantageous.
