This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is seeking a Technical Manager – Automotive and Industrial.
This role sits at the intersection of open-source innovation, embedded systems engineering, and automotive-grade software development, focused on bringing secure and reliable Linux-based solutions into highly regulated industrial and automotive environments. You will:
- Lead and grow a globally distributed engineering team working on adapting platform technologies to meet stringent safety, security, and compliance standards.
- Combine deep technical leadership with strategic execution, requiring close collaboration with product management to define and deliver a clear engineering roadmap.
- Represent the organisation in external automotive and industrial ecosystems, including customers, partners, and standards bodies.
This is a highly influential role where your responsibilities will include:
- Shaping engineering practices.
- Driving delivery quality.
- Ensuring alignment with global safety-critical standards.

Accountabilities
- Define and execute the engineering strategy and roadmap for automotive and industrial software initiatives, ensuring alignment with product leadership and business goals.
- Lead, grow, and mentor a globally distributed team of engineers, ensuring high-quality delivery and strong technical direction.
- Drive adoption of Linux-based and open-source solutions tailored to automotive and industrial use cases, while ensuring compliance with safety and security standards.
- Collaborate with product management and cross-functional stakeholders to translate vision into actionable engineering plans and execution.
- Represent the organisation in automotive and industrial communities, including standards consortia, partners, and customers.
- Promote modern agile development practices, engineering excellence, and continuous improvement across teams and processes.
- Establish a strong engineering culture, ensuring alignment with organisational values while enabling scalability and collaboration.

Requirements
- A strong background in software engineering, with deep expertise in Linux systems, embedded development, and open-source technologies.
- Proven experience in automotive or industrial domains, including familiarity with safety standards such as:
- ISO 26262
- ISO 21434
- IEC 61508
- SOTIF
- ASPICE
- Hands-on experience with C/C++ and Python development in embedded or systems environments.
- Demonstrated experience in:
- Leading, mentoring, and managing engineering teams in a distributed or global setup.
- Strong understanding of:
- Functional safety.
- Cybersecurity.
- Compliance requirements in regulated environments.
- Experience working in agile development environments, with a track record of delivering high-quality software on time.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders.
