Technical Manager, Climate Change

Location: London

Salary: £39,525 - £49,407

About CDP

CDP is a global non-profit that runs the world’s only independent environmental disclosure system. As the founder of environmental reporting, we believe in transparency and the power of data to drive change.

Partnering with leaders in enterprise, capital, policy and science, we surface the information needed to enable Earth-positive decisions. We helped more than 24,800 companies and almost 1,000 cities, states and regions disclose their environmental impacts in 2024. Financial institutions with more than a quarter of the world’s institutional assets use CDP data to help inform investment and lending decisions.

Our team is truly global, united by our shared desire to build a world where people, planet and profit are balanced. Visit cdp.net or follow us @CDP to find out more.

About the Team

Disclosure Content is responsible for the strategic development, maintenance, and delivery of CDP’s disclosure framework (question bank, reporting guidance, and scoring). The disclosure framework provides environmental information to investors, customers, and other data users, and drives companies’ actions to transition to a sustainable economy.

The Environmental Knowledge team is responsible for end-to-end delivery and maintenance of CDP’s disclosure framework. The team provides environmental insights, responds to internal technical queries, and oversees the question bank publication. We work closely with other teams and functions across CDP to implement best practices and pioneer new areas of environmental disclosure.

About this role

This role will provide technical, scientific, and analytical expertise to develop and ensure the high quality of CDP’s disclosure framework, to drive corporate environmental disclosure and action. This includes the CDP question bank, reporting guidance, scoring methodologies and resulting data. This role will be a climate change specialist providing insight across the disclosure framework.

What you will do

  • Be responsible for and have oversight of multiple team processes or outputs (e.g. the process for responding to internal technical queries from disclosing organizations).
  • Responsible for the expertise, maintenance and improvement of at least one content area of the question bank (e.g. the business strategy module, environmental performance modules).
  • Lead and contribute to the development of the corporate question bank, reporting guidance, and scoring methodologies – across environmental disclosure, focusing on climate change content. Including:
    • Prioritizing data points/metrics from relevant sustainability standards/frameworks and translating into developments for the evolution of CDP’s question bank and reporting guidance.
    • Analysing response data and conducting desk-based research to inform.
    • Drafting and proofreading technical documents.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to projects and initiatives across CDP’s broader activities.
  • Deliver presentations and facilitate workshops both internally and externally.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other teams in CDP, for example, to deliver:
    • Internal review processes to ensure the evolution of CDP’s corporate question bank and scoring methodologies reflect CDP’s strategy and ambitions for a sustainable economy.
    • Platform developments to improve question bank user experience and data quality.
    • Find opportunities to optimize the planning and implementation of processes related to the evolution and delivery of CDP’s disclosure framework.
  • Represent CDP externally as an expert on environmental disclosure.
  • Actively contribute to an effective and engaged team, clear on its purpose and contribution, by:
    • Ensuring you know what is expected of you, through regular 1:1s, having clear objectives in place, and participating in open and honest performance and development conversations.
    • Ensuring a respectful and inclusive workplace, where team members communicate openly, share knowledge so it can be used, and respect difference.
    • Living the CDP Values and demonstrating the behaviours appropriate to your position.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
