Technical Manager

Lead Technical Excellence Across a Diverse and Innovative Farming Business

We are seeking an experienced and driven Technical Manager, this is a unique opportunity to join a progressive and diversified agricultural business, playing a key role in ensuring the highest standards of food safety, quality, compliance and customer satisfaction across their product portfolio.

As Technical Manager, you will provide strategic technical leadership, drive continuous improvement initiatives and act as the primary technical contact for customers, certification bodies and regulatory authorities.

What You'll Be Doing

You will take ownership of the Food Safety and Quality agenda across the business, ensuring compliance, driving best practice and supporting future growth.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of the Food Safety and Quality Management System
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, customer requirements and certification standards, including BRCGS, Red Tractor and retailer-specific requirements.
  • Developing, validating and maintaining HACCP systems across all operational areas.
  • Acting as the primary technical contact for customers, certification bodies and regulatory authorities.
  • Leading internal, customer, certification and external audits, ensuring continued audit readiness and successful outcomes.
  • Driving continuous improvement across food safety, product quality, sustainability and operational performance.
  • Leading technical and compliance projects aligned to wider business objectives.
  • Promoting a positive food safety, quality and compliance culture across the organisation.

Manage the technical team

About You

We're looking for a highly capable technical leader who combines strong food safety expertise with excellent stakeholder management and a passion for continuous improvement.

You'll ideally possess:

  • Proven experience in a senior Technical or Quality Management role within food manufacturing, fresh produce, agriculture, ingredients or processing environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Food Safety Management Systems, HACCP and quality assurance principles.
  • Experience managing compliance against BRCGS, Red Tractor and customer-specific standards.
  • A successful track record of leading internal, customer and third-party audits.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance, traceability and risk management.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving abilities.
