Are you an experienced Technical Manager from the insulation, construction products or building materials industry looking for an opportunity to lead technical innovation within a growing manufacturer?
We're recruiting for a Technical Manager to join an established business that designs and manufactures specialist insulation and construction products. This is a senior leadership role where you'll take ownership of the technical function, leading product development, supporting manufacturing, ensuring compliance and working closely with customers to deliver innovative technical solutions.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining scientific knowledge with practical engineering, manufacturing and customer focused problem solving.
The Role
As Technical Manager, you'll lead the Technical Department and act as the technical authority across the business. Working closely with the Managing Director and senior leadership team, you'll oversee the full product lifecycle from research and development through to manufacture, testing, certification and customer support.
This is a varied role where you'll work across product innovation, quality, manufacturing support, technical compliance and continuous improvement while helping shape the future direction of the business.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Technical Department
- Drive new product development within insulation and construction materials
- Manage technical projects from concept through to commercial production
- Support manufacturing by resolving technical challenges and improving production processes
- Oversee product testing, validation and certification
- Ensure products comply with relevant UK and industry regulations
- Develop and maintain technical specifications and product documentation
- Work closely with customers to provide technical advice and product support
- Build strong relationships with suppliers, testing houses and external partners
- Investigate product performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
- Support sales teams with technical expertise on insulation and construction products
- Manage departmental budgets and technical resources
- Contribute to business strategy through innovation and product development
About You
We're looking for an experienced Technical Manager with a strong background in construction products, insulation, building materials or manufacturing.
You'll Ideally Have
- A degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or a related scientific discipline
- Previous experience as a Technical Manager, Product Development Manager, R and D Manager or Senior Technical Specialist
- Strong knowledge of product development and manufacturing processes
- Experience managing product testing, certification and technical compliance
- Knowledge of relevant construction standards and product regulations
- Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
- A practical approach to solving manufacturing and product performance challenges
- Commercial awareness with the ability to balance innovation and business objectives
