Portishead, Bristol, UK

Talented people are the key to our success.

Would you like to work for an inclusive and collaborative company which is also one of the most successful within the UK infrastructure industry?

We are looking for a motivated and ambitious Technical Manager (M&E) to join our team on the Network Rail Metrowest Scheme, supporting the delivery of a range of exciting schemes. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is keen to further develop their skills and take on increasing levels of responsibility.

This role offers the chance to play a key part in the re-opening of the Portishead line, delivering two new stations at Portishead and Pill. You will be instrumental in managing the procurement, installation, commissioning, and entry into service of all M&E and telecoms works associated with these stations.

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead all M&E and telecoms activities across both stations, from installation through to commissioning and final handover.
  • Develop and manage delivery programmes aligned with key station build milestones.
  • Coordinate and sequence M&E and telecoms works to integrate with civil and structural activities.
  • Define technical scopes of work for all M&E and telecoms packages.
  • Manage contractors and specialist suppliers, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and safety standards.
  • Review and approve WPPs, TBSs and ITPs.
  • Manage interfaces between station systems and wider rail infrastructure (including signalling, OCC, and control systems).
  • Develop and implement commissioning strategies and detailed plans.
  • Oversee all testing stages including FATs, SATs and integrated systems testing.
  • Manage commissioning documentation, certification, and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure the production of as-built drawings, O&M manuals, asset data, and maintenance schedules.
  • Lead the handover process to operations teams, including training for operators and maintainers.
  • Close out defects and ensure operational readiness ahead of entry into passenger service.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
