The Role:
Exciting opportunity for a Senior Technical Manager (or Technical Manager, depending on experience) with a strong engineering or civils background to lead the technical delivery of high-quality residential developments. This role is central to shaping viable, buildable solutions from land acquisition through to site completion - ensuring our projects are technically sound, commercially efficient, and executed to the highest standards of design and compliance.
As a technical lead, you will coordinate external consultants, manage engineering design approvals, and act as the main interface between the land, commercial, construction, and planning teams. Your practical mindset and problem-solving ability will help steer projects through complex ground conditions, drainage challenges, and infrastructure requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Coordination: Manage and direct technical consultants (civil, structural, and architectural) to produce robust working drawings and detailed design information.
- Engineering Leadership: Oversee engineering strategy including site appraisals, levels, drainage, and adoptable works. Provide early technical input to support land viability and design efficiency.
- Technical Approvals: Secure Building Regulations sign-off, discharge planning conditions, and manage Section 38, 104, and 278 agreements.
- Buildability & Compliance: Ensure all designs meet NHBC standards, Building Regulations, and company quality benchmarks, with a focus on practical, cost-effective construction.
- Risk & Value Management: Identify site constraints early, develop technical solutions, and support commercial teams in value engineering and specification alignment.
- Project Delivery: Act as the technical point of contact throughout construction, resolving site queries swiftly and maintaining design integrity.
Key Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related discipline.
Experience:
- Extensive background with a housebuilder, developer, or engineering consultancy supporting residential projects.

Knowledge:
- Strong grasp of Building Regulations, NHBC Standards, CDM, and local authority technical approval processes.
Skills:
- Confident in reviewing and coordinating groundworks, drainage, and infrastructure design.
- Competent in AutoCAD (experience with Revit advantageous).
- Clear communicator with strong organisational and leadership skills.
- Collaborative, commercially aware, and solutions-focused.
