Technical Marketing Engineer (TME) – Data Center & AI Networking

Cisco is a leader in Data Center and AI Networking innovation, building cutting-edge solutions that enable businesses to harness artificial intelligence and advanced data center networking technologies. We seek an experienced Technical Marketing Engineer (TME), specialising in:

  • Data Center Networking architectures
  • AI networking solutions
  • Secure Data Centers
  • Nexus portfolio (including Nexus 9000 and related software)

This role will focus on developing the Nexus 9000 line of data center switches, their associated software with application awareness, and innovative solutions to:

  • Enhance network infrastructure flexibility and agility
  • Support virtual machine workload mobility
  • Optimise connectivity for AI era applications

As part of a diverse team, you’ll engage with technologies like:

  • NX-OS
  • Cisco ACI
  • Nexus Hyperfabric
  • Nexus Dashboard
  • Nexus Smart Switches
  • Network fabric for AI applications

Your Impact

As a Technical Marketing Engineer, you’ll bridge the gap between engineering, sales, and marketing to:

  • Drive product enablement and adoption
  • Build marketing collateral that highlights the value of Cisco’s Nexus portfolio across:
    • Unified Networking
    • Secure Networking
    • AI Networking
  • Address automation, security, and operational transformation use cases

Key requirements:

  • High technical proficiency
  • Strong marketing strategy execution
  • Excellent customer interaction skills

Key Responsibilities

Technical Enablement, Marketing & Content Creation

  • Deliver technical enablement sessions to customers, partners, and Cisco teams (in-person/remote) on Cisco’s DC Networking portfolio
  • Articulate messaging aligned with Cisco’s data center strategy, focusing on application-driven solutions:
    • Performance and flexibility for AI workloads
    • Secure, agile data center architectures
  • Develop technical marketing collateral:
    • White papers, solution briefs, case studies, technical presentations
  • Create, validate and deliver customer-facing demos & lab experiences using:
    • Beta and Enhanced Feature Test (EFT) code
    • Collaboration with engineering and product teams
  • Produce thought leadership content:
    • Blog posts, webinars, and conference presentations
  • Partner with product and marketing teams to shape messaging frameworks

Solution Definition & Strategic Influence

  • Work with engineering, product management, and technical marketing teams to refine:
    • Product requirements
    • Cross-portfolio consistency
  • Develop persona-driven solution narratives for key stakeholders:
    • NetOps, SecOps, platform engineering, AI infrastructure teams
  • Participate in:
    • Roadmap workshops
    • Feature reviews
    • Influence future product direction
  • Track customer feedback and product enhancements, ensuring seamless transition from prototyping to external enablement

Event & External Engagement

  • Represent Cisco at industry events, trade shows, and conferences as a technical evangelist for data center networking
  • Act as a point of contact for analyst engagements, including:
    • Tech Field Days demonstrations
    • Market leadership strategy validations
  • Build and reinforce stakeholder relationships to promote Cisco solutions

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in:
    • Network Engineering
    • Computer Engineering
    • Or equivalent with 10+ years of experience in:
      • Technical Marketing
      • Network Engineering (Technical Pre-Sales)
  • Technical Depth:
    • Strong grasp of networking fundamentals:
      • Switching
      • NIC/DPP stack
      • Protocols: BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, VXLAN, RDMA
    • Expertise in Cisco data center technologies:
      • NX-OS
      • Cisco ACI
      • VXLAN-EVPN
      • Nexus Hyperfabric
  • Automation & DevOps:
    • Experience with SDN controllers
    • Scripting and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices
  • Security & Policy:
    • Knowledge of workload protection and micro-segmentation
  • Soft Skills:
    • Exceptional public speaking and storytelling
    • Collaboration & conflict resolution
    • Ability to tailor technical conversations to various audiences (from novices to experts)

  • Generative AI & Open-Source Exposure:
    • Knowledge of open-source AI/networking tools and ecosystems
    • Experience leveraging AI-assisted coding and content generation
