Technical Mitigation Handler
Role: Technical Mitigation Handler
Location: Liverpool (Hybrid), Sevenoaks (Hybrid) / Remote working available
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week Mon – Fri, 9.00am – 5.30pm
Role Overview
Reporting to the Mitigation Operational Team Leader, this role is responsible for proactively managing a caseload of high-risk/complex technical mitigation claims, including:
- Personal injury (Non-Portal & Ministry of Justice – MOJ)
- Credit hire
- Property damage
Key responsibilities include monitoring claims to mitigate exposure, seeking opportunities to settle claims early to reduce overall costs.
Key Responsibilities
The Technical Mitigation Handler will:

Proactively manage a portfolio of high-risk recruitment claims, ensuring accurate assessment across:
- Credit hire stakeholder indemnity
- Fraud risk across all claim types

Assess liability objectively, using commercial awareness to provide justifiable decisions

Conduct independent quantum assessments using approved claims management tools

Prepare and apply appropriate reserves in line with company guidelines

Advise and mentor junior team members as a referral point for complex or high-risk claims

Identify strategic opportunities for process and resilience improvements

Liaise with panel solicitors on non-delegated litigated cases

Work on ad hoc tasks as required to meet business demands.
Requirements
Essential Criteria:
- Level 3 Mitigation Handler experience (or equivalent in related insurance departments)
- Significant credit hire experience (e.g. adjudication, claims handling) with a strong understanding of:
- Pre-Action Protocol
- Civil Procedure Rules (CPR)
- Costs and liabilities management
- Legal understanding of case law related to credit hire and personal injury claims

- Self-starter: Ability to apply commercial judgement to mitigate risk effectively.
- Excellent communication combined with confidence in decision-making and workplace collaboration.

- Prior leadership or mentoring experience
Salary & Benefits
Salary:
£35,271 – £41,556 (pro-rata for part-time) per annum. Potential bonus of £2,000 paid quarterly (subject to performance).
