The Role
MAG is looking for a Technical Operations Engineer to join their Infrastructure & Technical Operations team at London Stansted Airport during a pivotal period of their IT transformation.
In this high-energy, 24/7/365 environment, you will provide expert 3rd line software support for MAG’s server infrastructure, resolve business-critical incidents, and ensure operational stability across the airport’s technology services. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to improve resilience, secure systems, and drive innovation.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide 3rd line technical support across MAG’s server infrastructure portfolio
- Resolve complex incidents within a 24/7 operational environment
- Investigate recurring incidents through structured Problem Management methodologies
- Perform root cause analysis and implement preventative solutions
- Inform discussions on infrastructure architecture, upgrades, and optimisations
- Participate in on-call rotation to ensure round-the-clock service coverage
- Collaborate on transformational projects to enhance efficiency and security
- Work with internal teams to maintain service excellence and align IT with business needs
Skills & Experience
Experience and Knowledge Required
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a 3rd line technical support or IT infrastructure role
- VMware cluster/project management
- Micrsoft Windows Server (2008–2025) environments
- Active Directory (group policy, DNS, DHCP, certificate services)
- VMware VMware ESXi and vSphere (especially vSAN)
- Veeam backup solutions (replication, recovery, configuration)
- Endpoint Configuration Manager (ECM / SCCM) deployment, software packaging
- PowerShell scripting for automation
- Exceptional incident and problem management with strong root cause analysis expertise
- Troubleshooting & troubleshooting methodologies to resolve performance, scalability, or security issues
- Microsoft Office 365 environment support

- Always-On VPN (Microsoft Tunnelling)
- Remote Desktop Services (RDS)
- VMware NSX security (network virtualisation)
- SQL Server administration & reporting
- Bash scripting for Linux environments
