Job Description

The job at a glance

Drive the ongoing maturity and performance of technology portfolio operations within Technology. As the Technical Operations Manager, you are the engine behind better planning, cleaner processes, and smarter ways of working, continuously raising the bar on how Technology delivers value to the business.

Your responsibilities

  • Own technology portfolio operations: take end-to-end accountability for ongoing systems and processes within Technology, continuously raising their maturity, performance, and business value.
  • Deliver strategic planning and portfolio alignment: support quarterly and annual technology planning cycles, ensuring initiatives align to product and technology strategy and that capacity, priorities, and dependencies are visible and well-managed across the portfolios.
  • Manage risk and cross-team dependencies proactively: identify, monitor, and resolve risks and bottlenecks that could impact ongoing delivery across engineering portfolios.
  • Enable data-driven decision-making: produce management reporting on portfolio health, system performance, and delivery metrics that give technology leadership the insight to act.
  • Improve how we operate: continuously assess and evolve operational processes within your area, raising efficiency, reducing technical debt, and embedding a culture of measurable, iterative improvement.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

  • Solid background in technology portfolio or operations management in a fast-paced Product & Tech environment with a clear understanding of the difference between running a portfolio (ongoing, evergreen) and delivering a programme (time-bound).
  • Fluent in software delivery and product development lifecycles: able to speak credibly with engineering and product teams, spot systemic issues early, and support healthy ways of working.
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills: translates complex operational data into concise insights and recommendations for senior stakeholders, including non-technical audiences.
  • Effective influencer and cross-functional collaborator: builds alignment and drives outcomes across teams without direct authority, with exceptional communication and relationship-building skills to engage diverse stakeholders across functions, seniority levels, and cultures.
