About The Role
You’ll be based at our Scarborough plant in North Yorkshire. We opened this plant back in the swinging sixties, but it’s definitely not stuck in the past. Our team of over 300 colleagues work hard to make sure the quality of our products keep our customers returning for more, for now and years to come!
Shift Pattern
Panama Shift. 2 days on, 1 day off, 2 nights on, 3 days off.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Manage and coordinate oncoming site deliveries.
- Operate a forklift safely and efficiently.
- Carry out sampling and quality checks on incoming potatoes (size, shape, defects).
- Ensure product meets agreed quality standards and proactively identify any issues that might lead to negative customer feedback.
- Complete associated QA/QC checks and documentation.
- Communicate effectively with the shift and area management teams, flagging any issues promptly.
What You’ll Need To Be Successful
- A valid Forklift Truck licence is essential. Applications from candidates whose licence has recently expired will also be considered.
- You will have experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, with the ability to meet targets and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
- Experience within FMCG or food manufacturing is highly desirable, along with previous shift-working experience. The Scarborough site operates a Panama shift pattern, so flexibility is essential.
- You take ownership of your work, carrying out quality checks, identifying issues, and taking appropriate action using your own initiative.
- Strong written and verbal English skills are essential, as the role involves completing production records and following documented procedures accurately.
- Experience in QA, QC, or quality checking is advantageous. Skills in inspections, monitoring standards, and implementing corrective actions will be highly transferable to this role.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
