Working Hours
- 42 hours per week - 4 on / 4 off rotating shift pattern
- 0600 – 1800 / 1800 – 0600
Purpose Of The Role
As a Feedmill Technical Operative within the operational team, based at one our sites in Hereford, you’ll be responsible and accountable for the smooth operation of the production of feed and control room areas as well as cover the Shift Lead when required.
Your Key Responsibilities Will Include
- To fully understand the importance of safe working practices and procedures related to all areas of their work and be fully aware of all the required safety equipment needed to perform his/her tasks and how equipment should be used
- Understanding and attainment of both individual and department targets (if applicable).
- To fully understand and comply with all department and company policies and guidelines.
- Awareness of the usage of material and energy sources.
- Co-operate in the continuous improvement of Avara Foods quality, safety and productivity standards.
- Handling/lifting of pre mix bags averaging 25kg.
- Shifts are 12hr days/Nights rotating, 4 on and 4 off.
- Physically fit, To cover all aspects of the job role as you can cover up to 6 miles walking per shift, going up and down stairs of up to 20m if breakdowns occur.
- To meet housekeeping and hygiene standards individually and as part of a team example cleaning of Silos, Cooler and Pits.
- Compliance with QC/feed specifications and HSE guidelines.
- To carry out instructions as given to you by your Team Leader/Management.
- Reporting of Pest Control.
- Daily completion of paperwork.
- Daily/weekly stock checks.
- Driving Fork Lift and CAT.
- Isolation of plant and machinery.
- To work as part of small team and adapt to business demands
- To manage and control Contractors including permit control.
- To manage and control relevant workplace permits – confined space, hot work, Working at height.
- Take responsibility as site lead out of office hours.
- Complete all necessary paperwork and traceability records to ensure the smooth running of the mill
- Ensure bins stock are accurate and managed to maximize operating cost and efficiently
- Supply/demand-minimize downtime and ensure the most efficient use of production time.

- Basic level of communication and numeracy
- Previous experience of working in a Feedmill environment.
- Previous experience in a similar role.
- Computer literate
